Auld Lang Syne
[font=Lucida Sans Unicode,Lucida Grande]
Is it irony a brilliant
cycle of 365 days
arrives as a shadow
crawling over the globe
like a gelatinous slug
A transparent angel
of its own accord
Its rhythmic waves
of muscular contraction
secreted by a mucus foot
Glistening remains
of Auld Lang Syne carved
across the frosted glass
as though a tomb of stone
~
Author's note: They say what you're doing at midnight reflects the upcoming year. I can't think of a better intention to set than poetry and being with someone you trust followed by a peaceful sleep of no regrets.
Happiest of New Years from North Carolina. May the Great Spirit of the Universe bless your every wish with peace, love, and happiness this 2017. And most importantly, may you always see the beauty in everything.

Re: Re. Auld Lang Syne
Then you haven't read the Connoisseur of Slugs by Sharon Olds, because she makes them divine (in my book, anyway).
Thank you, Dave. I'm glad you're here.
