Portrait of a resting man
Slumped
on the branch
of a gum tree
lain the body
of a man
shirtless
decaying
flies and moths
feeding off
chest and face
arms dangle
on either side
of branch
no sign
of trauma
on the face
or the body
for
he is asleep
deep!

Welcome my dear Friend Brenda..
few things... you said it very correctly 'State' of mind.. absolute acknowledgement of the fact it is temporary and passing. I don't know what to say except I left it for the reader's interpretation totally this poem. I know the angle i wrote it from but that won't be poetry if it is not left to the reader's imagination/interpretation.. I welcome and appreciate immensely your visit Brenda and am glad you found some meaning in this scribble. Appreciate immensely your kind gesture and feedback!
Thank You so much!

Whoa! Shades of that lonesome cowboy shot six tines into the chest by an avenging husband. Laid on the gum tree for all to see . . . Loved it!

Re. Portrait of a resting man
The imagery here is spectacular. I loved how the body was described and it sort of floats through the piece.
Excellent read! Thanks KD

Very few words, with such powerful meaning.
My heart was heavy during my reading.
Words....in which I can relate.
((Hugs)) to you, my sweet friend. 💓

What a dark and interesting piece of poetry KD, I adored it, what a deep sleeper that man must be.

There is a certain beauty in death that we can't help but be fascinated by. This captures that perfectly, Birdman.

Ms Gaia!
Truly humbled I am by your visit and appreciation. Yes indeed there is fascinating beauty in the fact of life that is death. Perhaps it was that that subconsciously promoted me to attempt this. Much obliged my friend. Thank You

it one of those poem that leads you to make assumptions and imagine who is the man, how did he get their, why is he shirtless, is he dead, really dead and if he is how did e get dead - I love poems that make my head work like this - excellent ink :-)
