Mish-mash of a poem..a lookback on 2016
friends gained this year are many
friends lost in the year are nill
now do not come asking count
I am superstitious still
a year of personal gain
in a year of global pain
an ice cube on a hot pan
peck o' dust on blowing fan
yes indeed, this too shall pass
memories only to last
a mixed bowl of sweet and sour
too much for me to devour
end o' year : personal high
knowing this well : end is nigh!

"asking count" and superstition. When I was a kid, KD, I used to get hollered at by Dad for counting train cars as we sat there waiting. He made me lose count on purpose! And my mother; do not get caught on New Year's day without a few black-eyed peas on your plate, to please the baby New Year. I love them all so much... (minus the sthupid superstition) It is going to be a wonderful year, KD! :D Have a great time, and be safe!

Admire your insight Pisha my Friend!! yes, that was the superstition back where I grew up..do not count good stuff.. you hit the nail on the head... you know ..after all we are humans..despite our literacy/education we hold on to some of these irrational views. Indeed it is going to be incredible..wish for the same for ALL my friends here!!
