I love both the metaphorical and literal meaning of this. I first read hearts as parts (I have a house full of Lego parts from a grandson, and still on my first cup of tea), so am glad I reread it slowly.
I admire your ability to say so much in relation to humanity in so few words. In addition to emphasis, I admired the jagged form and equated it to strewn pieces, some individual, some linked with others, the majority incomplete.
