Purgatory
Darkened day gone from tomorrow
dusk and dawns mere bleak passing
pendulum stopped
on the grandfather clock
a shadow watching eternal
hearts cold strumming a demand
to be heard, hollow sounds of regrets
knocking as skeletal fingers
on old mossy keys
repetitions
no laughter left to repeat
no tears or cries
to escape to or hide
scratching the memories
of cricket songs long since stopped
the long night draws near
sleep ye
until the trumpet sounds
for a new dawn
will you rise then...
dusk and dawns mere bleak passing
pendulum stopped
on the grandfather clock
a shadow watching eternal
hearts cold strumming a demand
to be heard, hollow sounds of regrets
knocking as skeletal fingers
on old mossy keys
repetitions
no laughter left to repeat
no tears or cries
to escape to or hide
scratching the memories
of cricket songs long since stopped
the long night draws near
sleep ye
until the trumpet sounds
for a new dawn
will you rise then...
