Image for the poem The Lion

The Lion's Den

deep in the forest my soul floats
taking root in the mossy undergrowth

*

connects with the ancient ones
feeds my being the nourishment
of what was once lost along the way

*

a hard road in an asphalt jungle
slip and slide sideways
lose my footing

*

the Earth takes me in her bosom
sees a child that has wandered
too far into the danger zone
fast living and the like

*

connecting with her
and all that hums with life
recharges a lost girl

*

who stumbled and fell
awoke in the lion's den
the powers that be stood
and said NO not today
