To Love a Poet
I will forever explain myself in metaphors
Inviting you to dig as deep as my heart will go
I will always pine for you to read me like your favorite book
Over and over again to rediscover what you already know
To love a distraught soul like mine
Is to be swept up into my perpetual dream world
Where I make like a dandelion and scatter in the wind
Gliding with each gust as it dips and curls
I will forever memorize every dimple and curve in your skin
Like a blind girl reading Braille for the first time
I will worship every beautiful word you speak
They'll be dripping like honey into this pen of mine
To love a poet is to love chaos
And live for the quiet, still moments in the storm
Loving them even in their scattered pieces
A multifaceted soul forever torn
