train tracks in the psych ward
down junkie road
was a woman
waiting on a train
a cigarette dangled from her lips
as she paced
with thoughts of jumping on the tracks
she was in a strange place
a psych ward
where the nurse at the station
wore clown face
no one heard her voice
told them her thoughts
to take that train home forever
no one listened
let her take smoke breaks
where she would sit and think
what if I just jumped?
it was a dark space
with no one to talk to
no therapy
just a clown faced nurse
busy flirting up the men of the ward
felt alone and lost
the tracks her only way out
junkie road she refused to return
one day they threw her a goody bag
full of the junk food she craved
tears streamed down her face
better a dog thrown a bone
than a bloodied mess
splayed on the rails

I never been a fan of psych wards. It seems like it drives people more crazy. Your dark mind is a thing of beauty in itself.

Your ink sounds like a scene described in a horror movie... Twisted n dark, with a sad irony at the end.

I agree with Poetik that this reads as a horror movie, but maybe that's because I'm scared of clowns :-/
Having said that... it's such a good write with a very strong ending!

I used to work in a hospital...the clown nurses you speak of I know well....great ink Crim...stay strong as you deserve the world more than it does you :D

I don't understand the concept of psych wards. It seems like each person should be receiving individual care and attention...not jumbled together in a chaotic and unnoticed mess. When we rob others of their humanity we diminish our own. This is a troubling, but strong write. Much love for you, beautiful Brenda

Excellent. Having worked in a psych hospital for 25yrs, i'd say you artfully have captured 'the feeling' in this one. Definitely "a lister" for my list.
