Sacred Contracts XXVIII: Fear
I. Confession
I confess embracing the ecstasy
of joyful moments in your absence
while rejecting the balance of pain
your presence brought to experience
the contrast of contractual agreement
I confess to having concealed your
essence within wet marshlands
of impression to forget you existed
dreaming to be free of outstretched
palms and bewildering numbness
I confess I pretended to hold you
as an infant against my breasts
when you reared an indignant head
so that I could comfort and appeasa
your wrath to regain my happiness.
I confess I have always sensed you
in the silence of uncertainty, a dark
peal of feral stray edging against
starvation, shaking the infrastructure
of constructed conclusion loose
I confess I ignored your quantum
field of energy during confusion
seeking instead a palpable awareness
a kaleidoscopic portal of myself
clothed in calm understanding
I confess it wasn’t you who needed
my dark mantle of consciousness about
your insecurity of being, nor desired
what none but you could understand
within our authentic nature of Truth
I confess it is I who has waited
needing you
II. Absolution
I do not absolve Fear’s hacking cough
in hopes it asphyxiates, nor shall coax
it from the covert chamber of self
as a stray I could Love
I'll run to it, let it instruct there is nothing
to ever be afraid of, not even fear itself;
I absolve those who say so
We only need fear ourselves
~

Powerful write! Seems like an epiphanic realization. Very fascinating, and absolutely thought provoking write.

Agree with Chaoticwayz. The ecstasy of joyful moments in your absence is an amazing way to begin a series of confessions. The silence of uncertainty, the infrastructure of constructed conclusion. You have an amazingly penetrating way of elucidating yourself, as always. It is hard to understand others and understandable to wish to retreat into self, onto familiar ground, proceed from there. I confess it is I who has needed you. The final line of Section 1. That reminds me so much of Carl Jung. How the unconscious will continue to direct our lives until we make it conscious, until we confront and reconcile it. Indeed, your works are quite analytical as well as powerfully personal. This is something that I think we share. I talk about fear in my most recent post as well. In it, I talk of old friends having resorted to lies, intimidation and withering of will as goety or black magic. I contend that it is fear that rules and motivates much of, if not all of, the evils that we are beset by, individually and collectively. This is a wonderfully written work. Your instrument is always formidable and I am always eager to consider your perspective and hope to learn from you. Namaste.

That's a pretty astute observation, Daniel. That's exactly how I react. I've never been one to pick up the phone and call or meet someone to 'talk about it'. I head out to nature alone and meditate, get it out in front of me so I can observe it. Emotions are visitors we entertain, who can easily overstay their welcome if we allow them.
I love Jung. Spot on.
How the unconscious will continue to direct our lives until we make it conscious, until we confront and reconcile it.
Thank you and Namaste, Daniel.

This is a beautifully written and thought provoking piece. A wonderfully written piece. Such an interesting perspective as well. I agree with the above comments too. P.S. I love how it is broken up into 2 sections.

Re: Re. Sacred Contracts XXVIII: Fear
I don't know that he would, John. I'm basically disagreeing with him in that I don't Fear is the only thing we need fear. But, rather, ourselves (or perhaps our perception of fear). Fear is a great teacher that can teach a valuable lessen. I think one of the most important.
I use to call it a liar; I used to say, "Fear is a liar." I confess, I was wrong. Just as Love so leads our course should it find us worthy; so then does Fear dismiss us from class once we've learned its lesson.
It is not something to be feared or killed, but embraced and understood. Its a compass. Or, so I feel, anyway.
Thank you always for your comments.

Re. Sacred Contracts XXVIII: Fear
"How the unconscious will continue to direct our lives until we make it conscious, until we confront and reconcile it. "
'Self' (mine or yOurs) is an illusion. I think you know that. 'Belief' in a True Self is a rather grandiose ass'umption that blocks just about any 'awareness' of the constantly changing, morphing 'reality' we perceive. Our egos are chickenshit bastards that cannot accept the overwhelming unknowableness of everything it sees, (or thinks it sees, as it is necessary to turn all perception into illusion via brain mechanics). Ego is always attempting to freeze-frame, and polarize everything that comes in via the sacred bullshit concept of 'belief', whereby ego thinks it 'knows reality'. An acceptance (deeply meditated upon daily) that nothing and/or everything is not what we 'think' it is, is necessary, thereby short-circuiting ego from the oppositional, conflictual, 'function' that it has been conditioned to revert to.
But I could be wrong, yknow?
Excellent poem in an excellent series......i wish i were capable of 'gathering' my 'thoughts' as you do. LOVE onya

Following you along with your Sacred Contracts;XXVIII (#28) obviously. Are so indebted into spoken truth. I wonder often if this is chapter 28 ? In what you and I previously spoke of you writing and finishing?
I must say though, my personal thoughts of fear.
I have always believed that fear, is lack of knowledge of the unknown . If we do not embrace what we fear. Fear will stop any progression of moving on to a fulfilled existence. I also believe fear is a 6th sense. Warning us to fight it before it shall ever consume us.

First, thank you for following the series and for your response. Both are very much appreciated.
Secondly, please forgive the lapse in memory, but I can't remember having a conversation with you about this SC series. I received this one this past weekend, Saturday afternoon in outdoor meditation, actually. Then channeled it from divine inspiration (or so believe). I like to think these are deeply ingrained patterns surfacing into light through the evolutionary process of personal growth. I never know what the next will be, or when until it reveals itself unto me. I have no idea how many there will be, and like to think there will be one entitled: The After-World. ;)
Fear is many things to many different people. It can definitely be ignorance and a catalyst for war. People fear what they don't understand thus attempt to destroy it rather than understand it, i.e. - the Holy Crusades. It could definitely apply to personal lives as well. Fear is indeed paralyzing and, like any good teacher, will prevent you from advancing until you've passed its course. Also a compass that lets you know you're off course and need to readjust. Fear is many things, but nothing to be feared, in my humble opinion. The only thing we need fear is ourselves via our reaction to fear.
I laid down my sword against it and tried to embrace it as a child, not realizing it was I who was the child in need of embracing. Painful but necessary process of realization and surrender that every person will at some point in this or some future life experience themselves. It's a pivotal point toward enlightenment.
Again, thank you for your response and discourse. Also the reading list honor.

the unknown can not to be feared - we can only fear that which we fear we know
The Unknown is not to be feared therefore -
just as well as it is ineffable ;)
your capacity to open your heart is also ineffable and in your words is clear that this is the font of your knowing
like children we run to love
and your words are born of love

Quite a testimonial to admit the deepest fears with vulnerability. You've done an outstanding job Ahavati, very well composed with acute attention to details.

I confess that I will have to pore over this piece over and over again to discover it's hidden treasures of meaning. My one verified truth is that it is written beautifully. I especially enjoy this stanza:
"I confess I ignored your quantum
field of energy during confusion,
seeking instead to discover a palpable
awareness, a kaleidoscopic portal
of myself clothed in understanding."
