brave new world*
my heart declared war
conquered edicts in my head
now I cannot think;
nor is there escape
such feelings that occupy
the space logic lived;
and if I’m honest
because it’s what matters most
thoughts can destroy Trust;
so my heart brought home
all survivors of this war
refugees of doubt;
a vast exodus
relinquishing all they’ve known
to this brave new world.

You must always be honest even when it hurts as not doing so is just you lying to yourself and souls don't do well that way...

The heart is no timorous wee beastie... it's the head that scares easy.
'conquered edicts in my head
now I cannot think...'
Nicely done!

She is a Dragon unto her realm;
a force to be reckoned with when
awakened from her sleep.
Thank you.

Lady Liberty in the form of a poem;
'send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!'

between what I believe
and what I think
there lies I...
just me and all those
little lies...

just me and all those
little lies...

My father always said that Truth
lived between two sides, two stories,
and walked always in the middle.
No wonder my throat hurts today. :)

This makes me want to reread BNW.
"so my heart brought home
all survivors of this war
refugees of doubt;"
-- grips me in all the right ways. Excellent.

Woman you!.. .
again, I know, I was
just in the confessional
box of another poet
and then .. here come
you, my soul felt you
come with force that
can't be blott'd.
I love this and you,
must let this wisdom'ness
absorb deeply inside my
circumferences and further.
You wear beauty so well.
Thank you for this thrice darling

Loving the whole piece especially
---> "and if I’m honest
because it’s what matters most
thoughts can destroy Trust;"
When you really look at it and if you are truly honest our thoughts really does destroy trust... Sometimes we can live in our head so much which can be a blessing and a curse at times... Sometimes we need to just follow our gut and what it tells us, where it leads us and then sometimes we can also follow our heart... But the head at times can cause us so much anxiety because it sees threats where there really is none and it tries to connect patterns to which there may be none because one has nothing to do with the other... Oh when the heart and head clash what a war that can be.... Digging this piece... Nice.

fear is the mind killer - it steals the oxygen of truth
"Refugee of doubt" - once trust has gone it is hard to know your home
that the victims of our ignorance and selfishness may find refuge is true comfort sister

I am learning as I study Buddhism how unexamined thought is the enemy of peace. Enjoyed this.

Unexamined thought? I would've thought it would be the examined one that would weave confusion, and the unexamined would simply pass before our minds as boxcars on a train.

Good point. Perhaps the unexamined emotion or impulse then. That which we do not face has power over us.

That is truth. What we avoid does follow
us until we learn to accept and walk through it.
us until we learn to accept and walk through it.

Honesty is Truth and therefore cannot be destroyed.
Versions of the 'truth' are untrue thoughts.; therefore,
Trust can be destroyed by such belief in untruth.

This poem is amazing! It reminds me of how the limbic system has a tendency to override the prefrontal cortex and cause irrational havoc, over heartbreak.

Heart and mine are forever at war
for what is logical isn't
the same as what is needful
and Truth is as personal
as spiritually
We love without thought
like we hunger without thought
knowing only the truth of the need
Lovely piece Ahavati

I'm very captivated by this poem.
The heart wants what the heart wants; it defies and displaces rational thinking, but it takes no prisoners - there is no chess match involved as it is a brute force occupation. Logic and Fear allied would declare Heart and Honesty as enemies of the state if they could.
