Poetic Gods, in honor of
.
“You have come to the shore.
There are no instructions.” *
Air relaxes into moisture;
immense space submerging
into tiny crystals of rising ice
coating its humid skin;
Deforestation strips
its oxygen source;
poachers ravage
its basin of origin;
extinction fossilizes
its creation to stone,
darkening the Belief
of a Future from us.
We look to beauty for Breath;
We look to Poetry for Life.
Trust diligently sages
Her Sweat Lodge
on a foundation of rock,
the ancestry and promise
of tomorrow’s Poem.
The one that will fold
Space between distance
Uniting separates as One.
And, by the grace
of those Poetic Gods
the Truth they were -
more so now in Death
we gratefully survive
“…creatures who crawl
through the dark toward us
their ancestors, their loving
assassins breathing ‘Why?’
like a cold wind.” **

Beautiful tribute Ahavati.

Poetry/poets... they don't make them like they used to...but we can only learn and strive.

Re. Poetic Gods, in honor of
love the poem, although I often
wonder why poets are held in
such high esteem by some, as
though they had some esoteric
awareness denied to, say, plumbers...
know who I'd want when my drains
are leaking... :)

No use around leaking taps, poets do perform the important function of daring to ask 'Why?' and reminding us we stand forever on the edge of the unknown.
They have no answers and no maps and wonderfully that never stops them...

spirits among the shelves,
guardians of the past,
projectors of the future.
these verses tremble in their bright wisdom like ancient fires...

Wow man rock hard. I took up poetry again when I fell victim to the Iraqi genocide machine placed me in a concentration camp right here in the good old U. S. California. They called it prison however Inocently there and very very illegally according to the founding forefathers and the texts they refer to as law books . In my time fighting tooth and nail to stand tall and not fall throught the torture of waterboarding being beet up untill broken bones repeatedly and even shot while laying face down on concrete while being denied a single Tylenol and of course coming inches to death from the common flew they would of called the French Nile virus if I had died My concept of poetry goes back to my ancestral kings who never forgot to lay down a poem or too or as you hit the spot
