I've seen some amazing and brutal footage of the conflict. figure of all the  conflicts the US fought, Nam and the Pacific were probably the bloodiest

The sheer brevity and simplicity of this works very much in its favour. It's a thumbnail snapshot of a mind in the crowd in a historic and devastating situation. It truly creates a sense of one life among many, thereby creating compassion for the many, in the sense that we can empathise with victims of a mass event when we see them each as complex individuals.
