ocean's balm
take me to the quiet places
where I can find rest
I'm weary of being
seaside I'm at home
amongst the waves
I have peace
in the vast deep blue
I take my leave
freedom found
where there is none
in this land locked place
I sojourn there in my mind
like a soldier
who must make it home
after the war
so is my soul
the ocean my retreat
balm to my broken heart
here you will find the real me
barefoot collecting seashells
wading in the tide pools
see me sun kissed
at one with nature
hidden in a little cove
where the only noise
is the waves rushing
to meet the shore
take me to the quiet places
where I can find rest
I'm weary of being

The waves are healing and the breeze cleansing. This is beautiful work Crim

I'd rather think of you as sun-kissed, not weary of being. The ocean does have restorative properties...

Re. ocean's balm
So many people find the sea a calming
effect to them. I was never really taken
with the sea, or ocean. I'd much rather
be cooking a mess of perch from the
creek where I caught them. After they
were fried I would make fish gravy with
the leavens, sopping it all up with white
bread. Then lay there and dream of far
away places.

Re. ocean's balm
Oh that quiet place (reminds me of a thing my dad said once, he said...) "My goal is to create a life, I don't need a vacation from." he probably stole the quote, but that's okay because that's what I got from your first stanza, love.
At one stage in my life, I worked on cruise ships. My favorite thing at the time was to sit on the top deck and watch the sun rise, it was such a peaceful, comfort space. I loved that space.
Lately in my meditations, I have been trying something new, you see I wait until my meditative state is at it it's calmest and then I find solitude in places my body can't attend right at that moment. My mind finds peace.
I believe that there is no more beautiful attribute to a person (any person) than the knowledge of self. Personally knowing ourselves is not a easy task at all, it is indeed quite a obstacle many never overcome. But still the most giving, honest and truthful people I have met are at one with themselves, I think they are damn sexy man!
Crim, your piece has moved me; it has made me comfortable, it has given me peace and in some ways I found it nostalgic. I absolutely love it, deeply! Thank you so much for the honor of reading it!
Love @ you and your beautiful poetic setting

you read deep into a person's soul Al yes I wrote this because I was at unease within myself and it gave me peace to meditate there through the write.. a cleansing of my soul if you will.. bringing back carefree days at the beach..
I'm happy this poem brought back good memories for you as well..
though it sounds like partly given to your dad's advise you find peace wherever you are at any given time..
I have yet to achieve that but seek it..
thank you..
much love Crim

thunderous it's presence
serenity does find
for weary the essence
of thoughts disinclined
Vibrations extended
the land I do yield
your soul to be mended
with love I have sealed
you Crimson.... enjoy always, that of your ink

This is such beauty tinged with sadness. You are such a good writer no matter the setting or subject. Fantastic and moving like a sunset on the ocean! Excellent!

Brenda, such beauty in this write.. soft, yet touches of dark.. like a grey sky, with touches of light.. just enough to warm the soul, and yet teach forgotten wisdom.. so much depth in this ink.. love..
