Image for the poem Mistress Muse

Mistress Muse

A distinct possibility
No promises intended
For relief from unrequited lust
But her every move calculated, a lure
She does seem to acknowledge
And might well field advances
Her embrace alone a thrill
Reinforcement for his best laid lines
Still restraint is growing fragile
The behavior of a knight
But the thoughts of a cheap detective
Observing a muse and mistress
Perched precisely on the edge of his bed.
