Sunken Lungs
collapsed lungs sunken,
quivering to the sound
of each breath
caving in as
blackened bones
quivering to the sound
of a straggling breath
choking
a truth of peril
too hard to swallow
and every inhale
of each breath
a permeating deterioration
saturating the cotton dress,
masking sores swollen
to stillness
where wandering eyes
caving in as
the skin of grotesqueness
grows as breaths fade
to a milky existence
never to be unseen
by the few
feeling the grips
of life slip like silk
eaten by moth holes,
the bones collapsing
to the sound of sunken lungs
quivering to the sound
of each breath
caving in as
blackened bones
quivering to the sound
of a straggling breath
choking
a truth of peril
too hard to swallow
and every inhale
of each breath
a permeating deterioration
saturating the cotton dress,
masking sores swollen
to stillness
where wandering eyes
caving in as
the skin of grotesqueness
grows as breaths fade
to a milky existence
never to be unseen
by the few
feeling the grips
of life slip like silk
eaten by moth holes,
the bones collapsing
to the sound of sunken lungs
