unexpected allies
She walked back into my life
like she wasn’t the bitch
who made me
want to drink myself to death
five years ago
my skin bloodied with her name
and her rage
and her unhinged reality
We talk and find common ground
in strange places
and I open my mouth
to find words honest words escaping
when I’ve built these random
rendezvous on lies
The voice in the back of my head
keeps whispering
“don’t get tangled”
but the question remains
who am I willing to shoot
when my gun is loaded?
She’s the lesser of two evils
