I read this earlier, but didn't comment because I wanted
to come back to it. What a fantastic piece of writing, You
summed up what all the sweet words finally become when
it is time to leave the cruelty of the man who uttered them.
It is a shame we have to turn our words uttered in at the start
of the romance into utter lies at the end of the same romance.

It's all too sad that so many lovers', or husbands', words aren't binding. Forever turns out to be finite. An excellent write with a heart-breaking last line, Tommie. Loved this!
