MAGI (voiced by Savaja)👄
.
Drifting in the center of his love spent,
traveling, bed to bed as salesman priest.
Administering, he lingers much longer
this time, not knowing why or paying heed.
This one's different as he watches her,
naked and sanctified by his offering.
From a corner he contemplates, mystified
by what she's unknowingly taught him.
The heated lilt of her voice, of skin
like rose petals that never wilt,
the touch of her hands upon his heart
while his body turns beneath her feet
in spite of expecting nothing of him.
During the night, availed of her eyes
he feels the release of the convert
as freelance holy man on the fly.
The outcome of their encounter has him
prayerful and makes him fret
as to the influence of a lover, and
for once, magi and muse are well met.

"From a corner he contemplates." what I love about this poem and most of your poems is their measure, their pulse, their beat... you take us slowly, so we can see everything... great art... great craft...

Re: Re. Magi
Thank you, Geoff, I'm glad the rhythm is embraced as you read each couplet.
Re. Magi
Well written, Jade. I love the couplets. There was one line I stumbled on a bit, and it might just be me.
he feels a release of the convert
My mind wanted to read, he feels the release of a convert
he feels a release of the convert
My mind wanted to read, he feels the release of a convert

Ahh thank you dear, I was struggling with that line, I knew it was something simple, and you showed me! I'm fixing it now. How lovely of you to come and read, and to share... wishing you all the best for the new year. ((((hugs))))

A true convert through the act and art of love. A lovely piece from beginning to end Jade, It left me feeling the same magic as the salesman. Another of your gorgeous poems to think about and read again and again.

Dearest John, how your embrace of my piece humbles and honors me so. Thank you for your appreciation, for sharing your thoughts with me, and for adding the poem to your RL.

Exceptional as always Jade. The form you used of the couplets really worked for this piece. I loved the title as well, creative and a little cheeky, perhaps. Thanks for sharing.

Oh dear, I've come across some comments that fell through the cracks, perhaps while I wasn't online a lot, recovering from an injury. My apologies for the awful lag. And such a humbling sentiment you gifted to me. All I think I could add now is a deeply sincere thank you - such a paltry gift in return.

Ahh thank you, Geoff. Yes, I feel the same because poetry was originally meant to be spoken. I have lots of spoken poetry by me but DU requires everything to be posted on youtube, and I don't have an account. I only have one that I told you about which was posted because it was a collab for a contest which we placed - not first, but honorable enough. Now this one, most generously spoken by Savaja.

A welcome look at post-coital pleasures that can be as rewarding as the actual act--sometimes.
With all due respect to Savaja, I wondered why you didn't do the audio yourself. Just curious.

Re: Re. MAGI: read by Savaja
I asked if she would pick something of mine and read it, and once the holidays settled back to normal, she was so kind to present the finished work to me. All of my own work that I've done audio recitations in the past were just that - ones I did myself. I heard one of Savaja's readings of another DU writer's work and I was smitten.
And thank you for sharing your thoughts about my poem. I too agree how some ways to express erotic can be rewarding when a poem can observe restraint - hmm, sorry, I don't mean restraint, but to give the reader the imagery & emotions of erotica through observing brevity, and good choices of wordplay.

Jade-Pandora, luv ~ :-*
I have come late to comment upon this work, but comment I have come to do for this work is another of your great masterpieces. Tis an exceedingly difficult thing to do to make a determination amidst a grouping of the stellar as to which stellar one will favor as you asked of me when you requested I CHOOSE amongst your works which I would voice.
Thankfully, the first upon which my eyes landed that captured me upon my return again after another brief hiatus then spoke whispering unto mine ears and mind. :-* I was feeling rather o'erwhelmed I will frankly admit until that moment, thinking that somehow, some way I would, indeed, have to make a choice betwixt your works, a nigh impossible task. :-p
I hope, sincerely, never to have to choose again. Rather should anyone else wish me to read or should you care to have me do so another time, all must do the choosing rather than I. *shuddering here in abject admission of the fact that choice can be sooooo limiting* ;-D
Magi is an unusual and highly nuanced piece, luv, full of intricate shadings and lustrous personality. Twas an absolute pleasure to voice, though I worried I would not do it justice.

*after reading and rereading your comment, hoping to understand and take in all of your meaning, to return a well-informed reply to you*...
Dearest Savaja, I sincerely hope that, through this process of request, and choice, and acceptance, and the final delight of design and skill and sheer beauty in what you were able to do, and present to me, and everyone who will now be able to hear your voicing, that you have not been brought to stress and uncertainty in your efforts for "Magi".
If it means that, going forward, you require the author requesting the talent and gift of your voice to make the choice, I have no qualms in that arrangement. What if a poet/writer such as myself, presents you, perhaps, two pieces, and have you pick one - because I believe if one speaks to you more than another, it's good to have two, and two would hopefully be much better for you to pick one - do you think? Otherwise, I would pick one, hoping I have taken into great consideration what you might "feel". The fact that you chose "Magi", gives me an idea of a future piece if you would grace it with your skills. If you are open to any of this, I then look forward to hearing from you via email and/or pm.
And please know that I will always be grateful and pleased with how your voicing of "Magi" came out.
with much respect,
Jade

Ahhh, Jade Pandora, luv ~ :-*
I should have been clearer in evincing the fact that twas a rather pleasurable torture having to choose and much of what I said was at least partially in humor.
It DID take me a bit to come and pick, tis true and I WAS trepidatious about how to pick amongst your many glorious offerings - such a multitude of possibilities, you know, each redolent with luscious imagery and meaning and Oh! How to choose? You see now my conundrum, I hope. Admittedly, tis a bit of gluttony on my part that revels in them so, luv. ;-*
I understand the poem calls to one. I see the merit in that.
No real stress was induced and I am heartily sorry, indeed, that I gave you cause to worry there was. Forgive me, luv, for my bumbling attempt at humor, please.
As for doing your poem justice voicing-wise, I am beyond grateful you are pleased. I am always so when the author is happy with what I've done. (And, truly, I ALWAYS fret about voicing a bit, especially when doing so for someone as my interpretation may differ from what is desired, ne c'est pas? However, it may well be that without that bit of anxiety, creative complacency would ensue and that is never a good thing, eh?)
Thus, have no concerns, twas a pleasure to do this for you, Jadey, luv. :-*
If you desire another read, let me know. ;-D

Hi Jadey,
I thought the poem was gorgeous and then I was going through the comments and I saw that someone had commented with my account. I do love it but I've got to get some help here.

Oh dear. I don't know what to say to that. I mean... that comment made from your account happened three weeks ago, and I received other comments - all very favorable - during that time. I wonder why someone would pretend to be you and do something like that? And yes, I hope you can be helped about this.
