Nectar
dew-drops fall from leafy green
as our feet sink softly down
in the muddy ground
this escape of dreams
and the only sound
I hear is the whisper
of my name
as we stroll along flooded streams
that rush eroded banks
of time we wasted searching
You guided me
across resurrected rivers
and decaying trees
as your lips traced my fingers
and your arms
the branches that held
Me close as I drank rain
as I wrapped my legs
around your waist
I grew into you as ivy
so many layers
you cut through
just to get a taste
You pushed me back into the bark
safe beneath a canopy of leaves
all else was dark
and silent save for screams
I didn’t want to breathe
when you sucked
the nectar down
I looked to see if any were around
There were none to be found.
So I drank rain and you drank me
and only the woods
heard echoes
of sighing
I would be content to die
here and leave behind these bones
I would be content to lie
here among these mossy stones
