THE GOODBYE GHOST
I'd be lying if I'd say
there's no pleasure in my pain-
for the pain it reminds life
that I'm alive some twisted way.
So let me die another day-
let the agony awake-
the side of me that starts to fade-
The goodbye ghost that never stays-
Someone once told me that sleep's a step from death.
If I remembered who it was that did,
I'd open their mind up to dissect.
Maybe shove a little pain,a little fear into their head.
Show them what can bring a man
the very closest to that edge.
