What Frightens Me
It’s not that one man alone hates to these extremes
Many have, who lived and died over the centuries
But when misguided majorities share this dangerous belief
The poles attract Death as their Commander in Chief
Pushing antipathy’s walls beyond radical philosophies
So that hatred in moderation feeds palatable animosities
I see through the bluff concealed beneath your fine-leather glove
Your hand full of aces raising the stakes with unAmerican love
Stacking the deck with one-eyed cards exposing two faces
Declaring a religious decree replacing Constitutional lines it erases
If you’re not one of U.S. well then you must be one of them
If you don’t stand with U.S. you must fall with all we condemn
Laying down standards in the land of army ants and the home of Earth worms
Surrendering your freedom is only the first of a long list of terms
Along with your passport and visa you must unbelieve your unholy faith
Or we’ll trump-up some charges and hand your soul over to the ultimate wraith
Repeating the failings of unethical cleansing by minds prejudized
Reborn in the home of Hypocrisy where “Thou shalt not kill” is delegalized
Many have, who lived and died over the centuries
But when misguided majorities share this dangerous belief
The poles attract Death as their Commander in Chief
Pushing antipathy’s walls beyond radical philosophies
So that hatred in moderation feeds palatable animosities
I see through the bluff concealed beneath your fine-leather glove

Re. What Frightens Me
The whole thing is a ruse, a political game being played for Republikill voters. There is a recognized thing, I forget what the official name is, whereby you push the extremes so far that a normally radical idea becomes acceptable to mainstreamers. Well, Donald Trump and the Republikill party are well aware of this and are performing at Oscar nominee levels. They all know Trump can't beat Hillary so they are desperately trying to make Cruz or Paul or whichever candidate wins the Republikill nomination for President seem level headed in comparison. When Trump drops in, the others will look like great alternatives and have a better chance to beat Clinton once Trump gets them all hyped up with hatred! And what makes it all the more frightening is that 35% of Republikills actually agree with the insanity. The question isn't so much, "how can they be so blind?" as much as it is, "how can they embrace hatred so easily?" Has the Klu Klux Klan gone nationwide?

Re. What Frightens Me
Poetryman, luv ~ :-*
Tis indeed a terrifying thing that is occurring. I keep having this pervasive thought of World War II and how seemingly innocuously those horrid internment camps must have begun, you know, as "protection" measures. Aargh! What is wrong with people that this is not immediately recognizable as the same sort of thing? (I've been asking this question since that moronic notion was made.)
I contemplate how easy it would be to turn this ire and hatred, terror and fear towards various other communities with justifications and rationalizations along the way, how freedoms for all will begin to be curtailed. For, why would entities with surveillance powers relinquish or lessen those?
This shift may be all that is needed to strengthen and enhance provisions of that Patriot Act put into place during the Bush Administration, which, you recall, reduced freedoms in America to a rather alarming degree.
And, of course, ultimately, a course of action that espouses hatred and gives no aid or succor to those fleeing persecution provides precisely what is desired by those purveying terror and persecution. It validates their stance that the United States is uncaring and gives for many no other berth, no choice but to return from whence they came or remain in horrific conditions rather than flee.
With no other hope, of course people will begin to do what they must to survive. And, if that means embracing what has been wholly unpalatable up to now in order to keep their families alive, in order to have some sort of life, they will begin to embrace that which they detest. Then, we will have real problems; for desperate people will do whatever they must for those they love.
Ah, luv, you've sparked my fuse to flame a bit with this - I've been irate since that man opened his blasted mouth, though you're right on this one - I don't believe he'll receive the Republican nomination, oh no. If they're canny, they'll nominate Carson. Then we'll have a fight on our hands...

Re: Re. What Frightens Me
Thank you for commenting Savaja! This country is on the verge of another Civil War. That is why the Republikills keep telling people to buy as many guns as they can. It makes me want to buy one myself, not because of Russians or Muslims, but Republikills. And I'm a bleeding heart liberal peacenik...

they sicken me and it's a sad reflection of democracy that it can so easily become mob rule, where the unthinkable becomes not only thinkable but also doable - UK politics has been using this rouse for decades making parties seem like they are caring and listening by initially flagging up a nasty ass policy to make their uturn seem like they really care - The British population in general still fall for this shit year after year the right wing in the main do this more just in order to see how far they can push the electorate down a right wing path - awe shit don't get me started!
enjoyed the poem and the point it makes :-)

I am not American (though had uncle who settled in San Francisco after leaving Canadian Navy), but my reaction to his outburst is - does not Trump realise by attacking the freedom to immigrate in the USA he is biting a hand that has fed his (presumably immigrant) ancestors?

Trump realizes the job a President does is incredibly hard and he isn't fit to do the work. His extremism is backfiring on him. Instead of dropping in the polls, those who have been quietly hating away behind their shadows have become embolden and the rest of us can see just how much hatred there really is in the world. Donald Trump is not a Native American and biting the hand hat feeds him is how he became a billionaire. I'm sure he sees this campaign as a yellow brick road leading to another tv show...

JJ...
well... what can I say apart from saluting your work...... man this world is sickening me everyday... hatred has become the global currency and who else but the political mob which is cashing it on along with the extremists... the politicians and the terrorists are the yin and yang of our life now. Each feeding on the other...each pushing the populace the the other's embrace.. I admire your courage and astute observation... hats off..

It's enough to make me believe in Revelations and expect the end of days to begin at any moment. Hatred is more popular than Jesus. Even those who believe in Jesus have justified their hatred with his Father's words. I've been writing about it for years in my poetry.
See poems below:
1: Pride Is One Seed
2: Seeds & Weeds (prose)
3: 3 Seeds
4: 4th Independence
5: Matthew 5:5
6: Segregation
7: Separation
8: Where Will You Aim Your Hate?
9: Hatred Kills
10: The Hidden Foe
11: Someone There Is
12: Free Your Mind Instead
13: Alienation
14: election day politics (11/7/2014)
