Princess

I can't match up in beauty
and I can't compare in the kitchen,
I can't communicate in such ways
and I can't ask for help.

I don't attend university
and I can't spend without guilt.
I don't know it all,
I'm weak and I'm small.
I just wish it felt like I was reading with you
and not like you already read the book
and I can't help but feel she was better
because I constantly feel so inadequate.
I always find the gentle turns to hate at something
I cannot be
and that's not directed at you
but when I can't cut
and I can't learn for myself what,
yeah, now, tell me what I'm supposed to do?
Because I don't compare to you, or her
and I fear I never will.

You're choosing a pebble instead of a diamond,
you're choosing a beggar instead of a princess
and how can I voice how effortlessly, how much I love you
when you'll realise just quite how silly that sounds when staring at you, or her
and then turning back to look at me?
