L'amour est une rose rouge profond (Love Is A Deep Red Rose)
“......Some say love, it is a river, that drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor, that leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower, and you, it's only seed “
Roses
in every shade
every texture
every brilliant color
So deceptively fragrant
seductive.....
.......her singlular, red flower stops my heart from beating
yet when you reach out
to touch
it's splendor,
the steely thorns
bury deep within your skin
tearing, ripping your flesh
blood, red, dripping blood
stunned......
….flowing from within
and the rose
fragrant,
seductive,
and fair
her beauty stills my beating heart
Love is a filthy bitch
right from the start
she loves absolutely no one
except herself
oh lowly fool
she slowly, strategically
chews away every part.....

'tis all that is left
a translucent reflection,
a spectre
in a tinted mirror,
a residual terror
and I scare myself
…..all in the name of love
that which is sacred
becomes vile and vain
he that hath a soul
becomes numb
never to
fall victim to
the sadness
of loves beauty
again..... love is a liar
….a rose
sinking it's steely thorns
deep within your skin
tearing, ripping your flesh
blood, red, dripping blood...
...flowing from within
I am so tired and
I can never, ever love
again

It takes a lot of experience and perspective to address the betrayals, the rage, the insecurities, obscurities, mistakes, the confusion. We come so far as guides of ourselves when we take charge of our love and how we'll live and deliver. But the journey comes with so much failure, anguish, recovery, catching up. I always read of your work as though it were journal entries from the master in these varied fields and so it's very humanizing to get the illustration of painful wisdom...and Bette Midler's iconic song stretches the heart out from hungry to harvest to hope, so it intertwined real smoothly here. Wish everything did.
