Image for the poem Carlotta

Carlotta

Carlotta comes at midnight
Parting the blue velvet drapes
Stepping naked onto the boudoir floor
She gazes down at Charmane
The virgin asleep in her canopied bed
The posts carved with nymphs and satyrs
Carlotta gently opens Charmane's gown
Applies lips to a breast as it rises and falls
Incisors finding the sweetest vein
She drinks, savoring innocent blood
Leaving just enough to preserve that blush.
