The Wreck
Polystyrene gifts
filling breadbaskets
smother my mothers conscience
in a love hate relationship
Spun along spry In sickly state
Will they never treat me right
I put my ear to the ground
crawling worm- like
hidden from mid-day sun
Retch, following the decrepid crumbs
con your way back to the cave
plead, believing
falling in could save you yet
Water trickles
spillingunder my chin
Creased lines
Dribbled wine
Mounds of Lith
picnics to bone
So far, so far....gone
Let me lead the way Lemmy
take it in ....incense
Breathe deep, the last kiss of sweet sugar
filling breadbaskets
smother my mothers conscience
in a love hate relationship
Spun along spry In sickly state
Will they never treat me right
I put my ear to the ground
crawling worm- like
hidden from mid-day sun
Retch, following the decrepid crumbs
con your way back to the cave
plead, believing
falling in could save you yet
Water trickles
spillingunder my chin
Creased lines
Dribbled wine
Mounds of Lith
picnics to bone
So far, so far....gone
Let me lead the way Lemmy
take it in ....incense
Breathe deep, the last kiss of sweet sugar

I wonder about this poem, and my interpretations are many.:) Good read Soul...it sounds like I am going home with plastic food in my baskets though.

Wow Soul, I had to actually look which category this was published under because the tone is bitter sweet and yet there are degrees of self escaping from the reality.
Beautifully executed with language and subtlety taking the reader into a place that they may not want to be.

I love the abstraction of this piece, leaving it open to multiply interpretations by the reader. An evocative and thought provoking write. The kind I'll want to read again and again.

I get the feeling much of this comes from you own history. The "cave" brings to mind Plato's Allegory of The Cave. Got me thinking in directions you may not have intended here...love ya for doing that!

Indeed it was formed around my clay, and the breaking of it.
:) not quite as deep as Plato's...but shares a similar vein.
Pure chance in usage of the cave.
....as much as I loved the philosophers...I retain little of what I learned of them. ( I've the complete works of Aristotle, I've read it 50 times....and recall it only as I'm 're- reading lol
Love Your higher mind Ted!!!
Appreciate Your visits Always Buddy!!!
