Bitterly

A green tea leaf
chases your tongue
stalking taste buds
baking Christmas puddings
from odd socks
Its job is to give you a hard time
and it's a gray day for texture anyway
Food's too expensive for the poor
but there's a jungle of plastic
wasted in Times Square--
another testament to crazy
Though it's not enough feeling guilty
there must be more we can do
to help offset all that's bitter
swirling around the world
