Pursue on My Love
Twas the lights the sisters shone
the sparkles of the gowns they wore
the twinkle in their green grey eyes
that enchanted Orion to give chase
they fled through fields
through glades through brier
fields of thorns that scratched
deep, that cut, that gouged
the fear to touch the fear to love
commitments unsure of immortal born
for Atlas daughters all maiden fair
knew no man much less the son of the sea
for Orion born of mortal and immortal
his stature of two men
his girth ample to his curiosity
he pursued the sisters purposely
the maiden fair all seven of them
called to the gods for mercy
to deliver them from he
rash in chasing unimplored
from their mouths to the gods
pity evoked the immortals
thus power born of them
thunder and lighting Zeus cast
from tender maidens of beauty
rose the birds of innocence
fluttered off to the sky above
to twinkle in their brightest light
Orion in woe begged forgiveness
swore never to pursue again
but deaf was the ears
of his divine ancestors
a day would come when he in turn
adorned the sky with brightness born
late of his immortal self
gifts of the gods now almost unknown.
