We win
We were young and out of place
A different beat in our feet but it was okay
We would run like the wind in a race
Feel the breeze on our face, going no place
We had plans no one could understand
Right outside the crowd, waving our hands
They would stare but we didn't care
Riding downtown with rainbows in our hair
(Chorus)
They said "they're unique" we said "we're free"
The world verses you and me
We had everything we could need
We knew with no guarantee
In the end; we win
That little town got more than it bargained for
Look at those two freaks by the corner store
We loved all those faces and places
But we grew and we knew we wanted more
It was a Friday night when we said goodbye
You said "it's alright this is what I've been working for"
I must have cried my eyes dry a hundred times
To realize we weren't kids anymore
They said "they're unique" we said "we're free"
The world verses you and me
We had everything we could need
We knew with no guarantee
In the end; we win
The years have passed but I still go back
Memories of the kids we used to be
Those days are gone but that's where we were made
Now we're grown and to this day we can still say
We win
They said "they're unique" we said "we're free"
The world verses you and me
We had everything we could need
We knew with no guarantee
In the end: we win
A different beat in our feet but it was okay
We would run like the wind in a race
Feel the breeze on our face, going no place
We had plans no one could understand
Right outside the crowd, waving our hands
They would stare but we didn't care
