Unbroken
You disappeared like the burning evening sun
Taking away my warmth, my light
The bright rays of sunshine that caressed and held me tight
It's been months of silence with no words spoken
Now you blow back in like a northern wind
Bringing with you a chill, an ache to my bones
As I listen to your once melodic tones
You'll never know the hellish toll
My heart was tired, hurt, battered and bruised
I secret it all away, from the windows to my soul
Those feelings of anguish and trust being abused
My giving and forgiving nature refusing to say
In the end vowing to be your friend, come what may
Stronger along those edges, that once were broken
Taking away my warmth, my light
The bright rays of sunshine that caressed and held me tight
It's been months of silence with no words spoken
Now you blow back in like a northern wind
Bringing with you a chill, an ache to my bones
As I listen to your once melodic tones
You'll never know the hellish toll
My heart was tired, hurt, battered and bruised
I secret it all away, from the windows to my soul
Those feelings of anguish and trust being abused
My giving and forgiving nature refusing to say
In the end vowing to be your friend, come what may
Stronger along those edges, that once were broken

Re: Unbroken
I'd probably go with 'took away my warmth, my light and bright rays that caressed and held me tight' try not to overstate things, the sun in the first line lets us know the warm rays are from the sunshine in the third. same with "It's been months of silence with no words spoken" months of silence would indicate no words spoken anyway see? it's not a huge deal really just something to think about in the future.
sorry if that sounded over critical for friendly feedback, but in my defense I'm very friendly.
you a nice poem going on here Domore good stuff, keep shinnin'

You meddle in everyone's poems like you are this site's editor at large. Read Domore's work for content and merit. Nobody cares what you would do, you didn't write this amazing powerful poem.
Samantha, your writing is phenomenal. Pay no attention to this little man who gets his rocks off making unwanted corrections to your work. He does this to everyone and I for one am sick of it.

re: Re: Unbroken
Thank you CD for the constructive comments.. in regards to the sunshine issue.. you have a point and I can see where it may be redundant to reinterate. In regards to the "silence" notation.. The silence I was referring was more on the idea of inner silence or stillness. Such "inner silence" is not about the absence of sound; instead, it is understood to bring one in contact with one's own true self. "It's been months of silence with no words spoken" --meaning during the time we did not speak to eachother.. I searched and re-discovered myself...healing myself in process....and thusly directly related to last line..of being stronger along edges once broken..
Thank you again for the read and taking a moment to share your thoughts..
respectfully,
domore

ah yes, I get the line now,it makes much more sense to me.
again, sorry if the above was too much. It’s never my intention to offend, only to offer my opinion. I find people’s replies a great way to grasp more of an understanding of how people employ different ways and means of expression. so thank you for your reply and for not reading my comment as hostile

If I could embody the title
'Twould be a real pleasure
For you know I am but broke
Unable to reward this excellence
Here's hoping you will accept this
IOU from a dear friend, destitute admirer

What doesn't kill you, will make you stronger but can we truly be friends with the ones that break our heart? Insightful write, very deep sentiments in your poem. Enjoyed it.

I have one particular very special friend i would dedicate this heartfelt ink to,but ah,if she came back,if she ever knocks on my door, ever again,i think i would or will run through the back door and never look back!Hell!i would or will shift and leave her my apartment!
Some friends hurt us too badly, what is worse,no matter what they do,they remain special and Irreplaceable! so twisted!!!
Beautiful ink D!

We have to risk ourselves over again to become ourselves - palpable poem of those blurred lines friend/lover - bruised not broken - cool and insightful
