< forgotten >
some sort of song is coming out
my next door neighbor's window
and i find myself singing it
not knowing it or anything
just singing it
it mentions you
it mentions you again
and the chorus answers me
as my heart used to
the one i've forgotten
the one i'm embarrassed to talk about
sings along reminding me of you
of how we sang
this song
forgotten
like my heart

You have a very unique writing style that is unmistakeably yours.
Love the lines in this way that describe you singing the song, without knowing it!

"very unique writing style"
my english teachers used to write comments like this on my papers; usually followed by a low grade of some sort.
having forgot the song... yeah, that's my favorite part as well

Well, your English teacher was a nitwit, then. Definitely a "very unique writing style". I, for one, appreciate it. Wonderful poem, Ray.

Just because he's read a few famous poems and has been handed a jelly doughnut stained diploma doesn't give him the rite to judge you. Your art is you, and your art is different. You're the perfect kind of different, to me. :)

It was more a response to receiving a poem as an answer to an essay question :)
But, aw, thanks for taking up for me.
Would pass these on to them but they're mostly dead by now.
Wrath of gods?

Love the random cerebral memories this ensues within my genomenous heart. Careful, Tonto, you may blow our brains out.
(p.s. are you getting my messages or am I just slipping away from this big green and blue uterus?)

You're probably the poet I'm most jealous of. And that includes published writers. Your work is so crunchy, so crisp and concise, so miniature and stylistically straightforward, more serious than it at first seems, deeper than it at first feels, that it almost makes me want to hunt you down, tie you up (for more reasons than I can explain without blushing) and demand you tell me your secret.

I love how this describes those little things that just accentuate lingering memories. Nice!
