Oh So You Twerk?
I laugh when I meet women
Who demand respect.
But who are so quick
To drop their self worth to the floor
For three minutes of 2short.
I laugh when I meet women
Who refuse to be degraded
But sing along
Loud and proud
Every word
To their favorite lil Wayne track.
I weep when I meet women
Who adore mainstream hip hop.
To allow the persistence
Of derogation
For brilliant and beautiful women
Brings my chest
Unsettling feelings.
I become distraught knowing
Men create the chains
That woman shackle around their waist
For a taste of conformity.
That does not allow them
Real freedom.
Its a notion
I wish
I did not know
All too well.
Who demand respect.
But who are so quick
To drop their self worth to the floor
For three minutes of 2short.
I laugh when I meet women
Who refuse to be degraded
But sing along
Loud and proud
Every word
To their favorite lil Wayne track.
I weep when I meet women
Who adore mainstream hip hop.
To allow the persistence
Of derogation
For brilliant and beautiful women
Brings my chest
Unsettling feelings.
I become distraught knowing
Men create the chains
That woman shackle around their waist
For a taste of conformity.
That does not allow them
Real freedom.

I did not know
All too well.
