Escape Into the Night
Today I don't want to see the sun
With its glowing and cheery light
It can't hide the ugliness of life
Just because its day,
Doesn't mean everything's alright
I'd rather escape this gray-walled place
Cloaked in darkness as my shield
Far away from the judgement and hypocrisy
Where my pride and self-esteem won't yield
Away into the night and into his arms
Succumbing to his ability to make me forget
No remembrance of my anger and resentment
No guilt, no shame, no useless regret
A little taste of his lips to give me peace
A little bit of vodka to wash away the spite
Hidden in darkness, deep in its embrace
Not a care in the world, just me and the night
With its glowing and cheery light
It can't hide the ugliness of life
Just because its day,
Doesn't mean everything's alright
I'd rather escape this gray-walled place
Cloaked in darkness as my shield
Far away from the judgement and hypocrisy
Where my pride and self-esteem won't yield
Away into the night and into his arms
Succumbing to his ability to make me forget
No remembrance of my anger and resentment
No guilt, no shame, no useless regret
A little taste of his lips to give me peace
A little bit of vodka to wash away the spite
Hidden in darkness, deep in its embrace
Not a care in the world, just me and the night
