The Innocence is Gone

Clinging to the silly child
Deep inside underneath my exterior
The surface that feels cold
Crapped on by the more "superior"

Doesn't matter what I do
There's always a judging eye
The innocence is gone, little girl
Better kiss those days goodbye

I have to face up to my demons
Can't run and hide anymore
They'll search and find my weakness
Break down my already broken door

Beauty is in the autumn colors
Yet I don't see them past my anger
Hot tears blurring my vision
Grudges growing bigger and stronger

I can't let go; my hands are locked
Gripping what will only harm me in the end
I want to relinquish the pain here
Yet I don't even know where to begin

Writing does nothing
But scribble thoughts down in rhyme
When the hatred rises up again
It only gets more intense with time

Gone is my innocence
It's somewhere in scattered pieces
Dropped in shattered shards
In various forms and different places

Ability to forgive and forget
It's gone
The carefree child inside
She's dead
Untainted condition of body and mind
Long gone
Feeling alone and against the world
Monsters in my head
