Take a 24-hour detour

I urge you to spend a
       day locked away behind
thick,rusted metal bars
and share a cell with my
tortured,shrivelled soul

Behind those metal bars,
       that have aged so finely,
take the time to listen to her
       dried sobs that have now
turned into painful whispers

Listen to those painful
       whispers as they will
reveal to you the extent
       of my self-induced
misery

This self-induced misery
       that is brought about by
my subconcious which
fears that I may be losing
grip with its reality -
       not mine

'Cause see, my reality
      consists of no unrelented
outbursts of tears, of
      the ability of the heart
to forgive (but not to forget)

So yes, I urge you
to spend just a few hours
with my soul and perhaps
      you will understand my
deep state of dejection
