On the Collapse of a Star

When we feel insecure
we question others too
which puts them
on the defensive often

and carries the theme
that something is wrong
supporting further insecurity
which breeds more indictments

which snowballs
into further defensiveness
and then increased criticism
and then shaming

and blaming all around
and it's snowing
and cold
and freezing to death

and the end
of what
was sunny
and bright

and all for the sake
of a whispering darkness
that never existed
in the first place.
