Unknown Life: Part 2
Part 1 can be found here, originally a short fantasy poem http://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/2368-unknown-life-part-1/
The shade of the trees ever growing through the darkness
Trees of hands, reaching for one another but never able to touch
In the night sky a face clearly visible, a face of no discern
No recognition but one who watches this world, maybe a creator
With one eye in the shape of the moon and one a fiery sun
Maybe someone trapped just like me, Lost into fields of flowers
Flowers like never seen before, of colors not known to man
Where shadows shift through at lightning speed
With a short laugh almost ominous and distant
Huge fields lining a path with jagged rock walls on either side
Like a mountain pass less the mountains
A place almost always cascaded in nighttime moonlight
Regardless of the one sun visible in the sky
For the second I blink, another world appears before me
A world opposite to the one I am currently trapped within
These trails wind by ancient powerful swords
Swords with names engraved on them like Muramasa, and Excalibur
I know not why these swords are here, I don’t want to know
If others have tread here before me, lost their way to this place
In the distance amongst the fields and small clusters of human limbed trees
I can see a faint light, a light that sometimes screams into closeness
Causing me all at once to convulse as if terrors were being placed directly into my eyes
Why can I still see when I close them?
I take a few steps forward onto the trail and as I do I notice something
My footsteps are only heard a few seconds after the step
I brush by a flower and its petals fall off and float upwards
In an almost indescribable beauty, like reverse rain in slow motion
As I watch something flickers in the distance and a shadow zooms by me
For an instant my vision is switched with that of someone else’s
And I’m horrifically killing a man with a knife as he screams for help
The blood washing over my hands and I’m maniacally laughing
His wife yelling off to the side of the room in an unknown house
So loud to the point I feel I may go deaf
And in instant my vision is shot back to my own and I tumble over into the grass
Shivering and blankly staring lost in my mind of what I just witnessed
A wind passing over the field and me, gently rustling the grass
Causing the trees to cringe into themselves ever so slightly
Small tears fall from my eyes and float off like dust caught in the wind
I finally pick myself up and continue along the trail
All too aware and cautious of the shadows around me
Horrified at what others vision I may see
As I continue along the trail I notice a figure standing on the trail up ahead
At first I thought it maybe be another shadow lying in wait
But as I got closer I could tell it was a man
A man, wearing armor..
As I got closer the man turned around and I realized he was very old and Japanese
His eyes were but the most horrific black
Wearing what could only be described as “Samurai” armor from the historic books I’ve seen
He then unsheathed his sword and I was certain he was ready to attack
He then spun the sword around driving it through his stomach
Falling to his knees as flower petals like that of cherry blossoms fell from his wound
Another samurai emerged behind him from the shadows and swiftly cut off his head
Flower petals sprayed upwards like a fountain, eventually taking with it the samurai
As the other vanished like dust gone with a breeze
His sword piercing the ground next to the path and staying there
My eyes wide enough with horror to feel the muscles within my face start to strain
Was this the way out? Death? Was I not dead already?
Lost in another dimension, maybe another time and place?
What year? I remember it being 1925 but this seemed to have neither time nor place
I began to run down the path towards the faint light
Feeling as if getting there was my goal in life
Glancing up the sky was becoming a faint red
The clouds the bodies of many sewn and pulled together
My heart racing as I ran down the path
A man in the distance shot in the head by a flintlock pistol
Turning to glass and shattering as he hit the ground
I halted my stop as a giant wolf like beast emerged from the grass onto the path
I stared at the beast, who, had three heads and fire coming from its eyes
The beast proclaimed in a low harsh tone that it was Cerberus
The shade of the trees ever growing through the darkness
Trees of hands, reaching for one another but never able to touch
In the night sky a face clearly visible, a face of no discern
