POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Inspired by life, literature, love and music.
The Troll at the Bridge
Pay the toll” the old bald troll told me,
“Or else suffer the consequences if you don’t”,
So lo and behold I had gold to pay his fee,
But then I asked “what happens if I won’t?”
So the old troll strolled back and forth hotly,
His nostrils flared like he was about to strike,
“You’re a bold soul for talking to me like this…
Roll on out of here or I’ll put you on a spike”.
“No I won’t go” I said “my home is this way,
I’m not paying a toll so stop harassing me”
The troll stood tall with all his meanness,
But I stood my...

In Commemoration
I remember that time I was about ten,
Chin deep I was scared of the motion,
But he was assuring me I would be ok,
Teaching how to swim in the ocean.
I remember when he’d come home,
I’d get excited because he was fun,
There was this charisma about him,
Quality time between father and son.
So many memories are stored away,
They come up every once in a while,
Because all the secrets that he kept,
He kept them buried under a smile.
And for the years I didn’t hear from him,
I grew blue with the passage of time, ...
Chin deep I was scared of the motion,
But he was assuring me I would be ok,
Teaching how to swim in the ocean.
I remember when he’d come home,

Let's Kiss
Let’s kiss like we've never kissed before,
Like the way we kissed that very first time,
Let’s kiss with all the passion in the world,
And let me claim your beautiful lips as mine.
Let’s hold each other close and feel the warmth,
The kind that’s heavy and makes us sigh,
You know the type that raises the temperature,
Like when we first met and you thought I was shy.
Let’s lip lock with a frenzy, let's just run amuck,
As if time has never passed us and we are young,
Like excited teens who are about to...oops!
Pardon...

If You Could See What I See
And so the celestials could not believe,
How humans can suffer from broken hearts,
Because when love seems to grieve,
The light inside awaits to overtake the dark.
Yet one of them stands at the brink,
Ready to dive and come sweep you away,
As the spirits watch with such intrigue,
Prepared to declare their love for you today.
If you just would understand your strength,
You’d know the length of your resilience,
How much you’ve traveled and battled,
You’re worth more than billions and billions.
Thus the gods have heard...

My Eye Rhymes
I mime with eye rhymes for a quick laughter,
Although writing it feels like it’s a slaughter,
But once the inspiration finally comes through,
The delivery many times sounds a little rough.
And yet this rite seems right just for fun’s sake,
Especially after downing a whole bottle of sake,
Don’t ask me how but now I feel a bit strange,
But I think I finally found a way to use orange!
I try to write sight rhymes but it all seems gone,
Like fleeing words worlds away leaving me alone,
These verses are like leaves flying off into the wind, ...

Soul Rock Blue Rock
In those formative days,
That early teen phase,
Us Mt. Vernon kids surely had a great time,
It’s like a glory daze,
A long and dreamy haze,
And it happened back in nineteen eighty-nine.
Yet now that I think about it, it feels idealized,
Romanticized,
Happy days always seem to outshine the sad,
I made friendships that lasted for many years,
And it’s clear,
That back in those days it was totally rad.
I think us band kids were the popular ones,
And those who played drums,
Were always thought to be so...

The Peace Bell
Nestled between two canyons in the mountains,
The temple stands with a glorious silence,
Up here, you can only hear the wind,
Whispering something old to your soul.
Up here, away from the bustle of the city
There is a peace that’s quiet and unheard,
It’s a place where you can focus and meditate,
Finding compassion for the world.
Inside the temple amid the jade and incense,
There is a reverence that no words can express,
The mind then seems to feel a balance,
Up here where the silence fills your breath.

In Triplets
One two three one two three one two three four,
Pick up a lyric and then hit the floor
Shit is so easy you can't find a door?
Rapping in one two three one two three four.
Rhyming in triplets is getting so old,
So many rappers are lacking the soul,
This basic rhythm has been overdone,
Rapping in triplets like one two three son.
In today's music they need better rhyme,
Spitting out lyrics like they don't have time,
Ridiculous lines don't make any sense,
Making that money at other’s expense.

My Poetry
My poetry is like a fine mist,
The verses caress like a tender kiss,
But when I drop ink with a twist of my wrist,
I spit mad bars because I get pissed.
Here’s the gist of it,
I slip the quip in there,
It’s whatever comes up to the surface whenever the spirit moves me,
If there’s a lisp in it,
It’s my speech impediment,
I breathe fire because aside from the ire writing also behooves me.
My verses are a mix of history and mystery,
A puzzle of lost pieces with imagery,
Whatever sounds clever I pull the lever...

Super Man's Last Flight
The B-24s, the Liberators,
The Second World War’s incinerators,
They dropped bombs all over the Pacific,
They were key to winning the war,
Legendary amid the corps,
They created a hell on earth that was horrific.
But the service men called them “flying coffins”,
Odds of surviving these missions weren’t too great,
And of all the glories of the men who told their stories,
This is the account of Super Man’s crew and their fate…
Phil and Cuppernell piloted the plane,
Lambert in the tail, Nelson along for the ride,...

Cursed Dream
She told me to give her my soul and I’d indulge
In all the pleasures I could ever fathom
So I surrendered all will and control
Then she pushed me into the chasm…
In the catacombs of writhing naked bodies
Taut yet decrepit by time and misery
The stench of lust and decay aroused us
Merged with a rapture that was new to me
Maledictus, the faceless voices whispered
Echoing through the caverns of my mind
Maledictus, they repeated over and over again
Sending shivers up and down my spine
And the sounds of anguish, wails...

So I surrendered all will and control
Then she pushed me into the chasm…

The Inkwell
The inkwell awaits,
Waiting patiently,
As my pen taps aimlessly
Somehow faithfully,
A little bit frustrated,
Although it may be belated,
But the words do bring me joy.
So I seek to play the ploy,
And write seeking to deploy
All the words formulated
That the inkwell had awaited,
With utter joy.
