Admitting the Truth
It's a tough decision to make
to leave the past in the past
or make the happiness last
even when it leads to heartbreak
It all comes down to a choice
between my own peace of mind
and the part of me that only you can find
If only I could find my voice
maybe this could all come to an end
But my own voice is lost
in the fear of losing a friend
Finally it all comes crashing down
I've spend too long hiding from truth
You do nothing but watch me drown
to leave the past in the past
or make the happiness last
even when it leads to heartbreak
It all comes down to a choice

Blurred Lines
You have so much power
to make the world a better place
Every smile leaves a trace
Your friendship can overpower
all kinds of grief
That's the only side I saw
until time exposed your flaw
Now that I'm over my disbelief
I realize that I'm part to blame
I built you into someone you're not
then pretended I had a claim
In my head this is my mistake
But in reality, it should not be on me
to determine what was real and what was fake
to make the world a better place

MISCELLANEOUS POEM

Back Where I Belong
I just got out of war.
I’ve killed thousands of men for my king.
The bloody bodies are slammed to the ground
from the impact of bullets tearing through them.
I have no choice but to step over the corpses on the ground,
to load my rifle and continue fighting.
Day after day, battle after battle, until finally,
I am free.
The air no longer smells like gun powder,
and I can see the bright blue sky
instead of only the haze of smoke.
I had forgotten what it was like
to hear a woman singing, the soft melody soothing my soul.
The desperate screams...

Tough Love
Insult me all you want, I’ve learned to deal
With every accusation you can throw
I’ve grown accustomed to your heart of steel
This time, as I walk out into the snow,
I’m finally free of your constant rage
At me, the world, anyone but yourself
But it was no romance of the teenage
I can’t just put these images on a shelf
I can’t ever forget the connection
Crazy, reckless, violent adoration
There is no denying your protection
I never required an explanation
Which brings me right back to the bottom line
Remember: my heart is entirely mine
With every accusation you can throw
I’ve grown accustomed to your heart of steel

You Won't Get Far
Run, run, run you little disappointment
I know about your life, inside and out
You stare carefully down at the pavement
As if you have a decided, clear route
But we both know what's going through your mind
“Just give it time, a few days or a week
and I will leave all of this mess behind”
Take another hard look, you deranged freak
Look back and you'll see what you missed before
All of your dreams are vapid, cheap, and stale
You won't even make it past your front door
At the mercy of those less weak and frail
It's so innocent that you can pretend ...

Leaves rustle on the sidewalk to my right
They blow away as I step to the side
I sink onto the freezing ground in fright
Nothing in my sight will help me to hide
Nothing that I can do to save my pride
My soul is shredded from so much despair
My face is a mess from the tears I've cried
After all this time, it's too much to bear
I never thought that you would be the one
The one who would inspire so much mistrust
I should not be the one who has to run
It is not my fault our love turned to dust
You have always taken my breath away
But this isn't...

Rainbows
Six years old
Outside in the rain
Not even cold
Never in pain
I see a rainbow
High in the sky
“Never want to go”
Is what I cry
Sixteen years old
It's warm inside
But I complain that it’s cold
No end to my selfish pride

Alternative Being
I hear the screams
In my dreams
I hear the thunder
And I wonder
Is that really me?
It could be the part of my mind
That I can never really find
My outer shell
Hides her well
But she still exists
I see the gore
And the war
That she creates

You would be a fool
To try and change that

New Adventure
All this time
Waiting for you
Precious baby girl
What would I do
Without you?
I have never felt
Such strong emotions
Such fierce love
And the devotion
That you set in motion
Everything changes
My life is on hold
I’m no longer unsure
But it’s not that I’m bold…
You are more precious than gold
I never thought
I could be this way
So powerful and sure
It’s not just another day…
There you lay
I’ll be
Whatever you need
A friend, a teacher,
A doctor, a preacher ...
Waiting for you

The Holocaust- Italian Sonnet
Everyone lined up to meet their fate
You wish you could stop it, you wish you could say
It should never be this way
But there is nothing to do but wait
The camp is surrounded by barbed wire
Whenever you see it, you just want to go
The problem is that no one seems to know
That Hitler is wrong, and he is a liar
There is nothing you can say, there is nothing you can do
That will ever make a difference to them
So you stay outside the fence to wait and watch
For the ones that always knew
What was wrong with him- ...

Death is everywhere in the camp
It is all they can see, and it is all they can hear
It is always dark, depressing, and damp
There is no love or happiness, only hate and fear
I shudder to think what it is like in there
It is bad enough out here in the light
The cruelty seems like too much to bear
This is war, and it is a horrible sight
Jews and gypsies are sent to die
But they have committed no real crime
Some will be freed by and by
But most will soon run out of time
Husbands will never again see their wife
This is the place where many lose...
