A deadly hug
I've always been scared of death
But recently things have changed
I was walking downtown
When I noticed death walking by my side
He reached for me but only scratched
I ran away thinking I had gotten away
Later on that day
I found out my mom was sick
Holding on tight to hope's hand
I didn't see death for a couple of months
But when I did
He held my hand and wouldn't let go
But I fought for my life
And finally broke free
A week later
I was holding my mother's hand at her funeral
I was wondering where death...

Gambling with hearts
Phony
Not real
Fiction
Fairy tail
Naive
Ears filled with sweet nothings
So many things said and heard
So many things falling on the floor
Lies, eyes, & clothes
Moments that meant nothing
Stolen moments for both
One lies & one believes
tongues become the platforms for all the lies
Seems to be made for that
But hurts every time one lands
Glances that lasted a second too long
Made to seem like something but this obviously isn’t a fairy tail
Going to the casino to gamble with a handful of hearts...

The Artist
All of our bodies canvases
Our fate on the edge of a paint brush
Carried by an artist
Straight out of art school full of ideas and potential
Many artists have museums of amazing art to show
& others are learning it all
My life comes to a fork on the road
Only the paint brush seems to know where to go
The artists seems indecisive
Every now and then wanting another kind of texture
Changing the paint brush along with my whole life with it
Maybe my life is a collaboration
Too many different styles
Alternate egos that seem to be my...

The sun shining
Kissing my skin
A garden follows me and has been growing
Since I can remember
Beautiful calm day
& All of a sudden the wind rushes
The rain feels invited & brings a storm along
This storm is intimidating
It's not like anything I've seen before
I'm by the ocean & it seems to be mad
It wants me to play along but no
I don't like this weather
I'm not comfortable
I'm scared
The current gets stronger
& The ocean gets warmer
It's face is red & its angry at me because I do not cooperate ...

The ocean is falling from the sky
El cielo esta llorando
Pero no parece ser un lago
Creo que es un oceano
Todo el dia lluvia cayendo del cielo
creo que nunca va a parar
Estoy quebrada pero no se como me voy a reparar
No se quien soy
Pero no me importa tanto
Creeme cuando digo que yo no soy tan importante como el resto del mundo
Eso es lo que yo pienso de mi misma
Igual como todos en este mundo piensan de mi
Soy la cantante de apoyo
No el sol sino una de las estrellas muy lejos que no puede ver el ojo

Take a look on the inside
I’m a vase and my creator knows me best
I am up on the top shelf
That’s where I think I belong
I am a real phony
I look like the real deal but I know I ain’t royalty
I think I am and say I’m top notch
But the people that know the real me know it’s just an act
From far I look like I can take a beating
I’m tough and I’m not easy to break
But it’s a long fall from the top shelf
It’s hard to put me back together
There’s super glue in the cracks of my soul
I have been passed around from shelf to shelf
Pretending I’m valuable
But these...

I have your name tattooed on my ribs
The first tattoo isn’t always the scariest
We’re excited to do something new & jump into it & pretend we’re fearless
I’m not scared, but I also don’t want to do this by myself
So I take someone close to my heart to the tattoo parlor
Too bad the tattoo shop is too close to home
I don’t have enough time to remind myself I’m fearless
The most painful tattoo is the one your friends have already
The one on their hips, arms, ribs, & thighs
The one they keep telling you hurts so bad, but you go on with the plan any how
Knowing this tattoo...

The sun came out today
& it went back down again
& I'm still trying to find the soil that will make my flower grow
I used to consider myself a gardner
I would plant beautiful flowers & all sorts of people would take the time to admire
But winter came & my garden faded away
I was just an old writer with nothing to write
The ocean surrounds me
It's beautiful, mesmerizing
The rays of the sun reflecting off the water distract me
I can stare at the horizon forever
Just like a mermaid deduces a sailor

I'm sorry again
I left them in my past
only to want to come back when I thought I was ready
but only to find out
they were already far too gone for me to grab their hand and pull them back into my life.
I sprinted to my future
and when I tripped over my own feet
I expected for them to be there to help me get back up again
but the night was dark and I couldn’t see anyone I knew around me.
All I saw was mirage on the far distance as the day continued on.
Illusions of my own making.
I was seeing and feelings things that weren’t there.
I felt abandoned,...
only to want to come back when I thought I was ready
but only to find out

What is it about other’s affection towards us that makes us feel bubbly and like we can be forever happy?
I have come across infidelity on a hand on hand bases. I have also suffered from it like I suffer from second hand smoke. But that is not it. What is intimate now a days?
A man I once knew told me his story and I learned of his life as I let him into mine.

Sweet Dreams Everybody
outside the window, the sky cries
the tears run down the transparent wall
outside the tent, people screaming & needing help
red runs down the drain
staying up late because it’s friday night
staying up to stand watch
sleeping in because it’s saturday
but we can’t take that luxury because of the bullets flying
calling someone because you miss them
wishing to dream with the person you’re missing
wanting to go back home to them, but a call once a month has to do for now
