Morning Has Arrived
I pry my weary eyes apart
Sands of sleep like concrete binding them together
I grab the cheap plastic @#%$& alarm clock and throw it out the window
I roll over
It's the third one this week
I realize I've passed the point of no return and I have to admit defeat
The thought crosses my brain, "I guess it's time to get up"
I pry my creaking bones
Just hoping they will hold together
The sounds snap, crackle, and pop reach my ears,
It has nothing to do with cereal
I make it to the grand shrine, the coffee pot

Beautiful Inside
The old man was sitting
Eating his lunch, on a bench, all alone
A beautiful girl sits next to him
As she's talking to a friend on the phone
He silently weeps
As her ugliness seeps
He begins to notice every flaw
She gets up to go
Just a little too slow
He wonders what was the beauty he saw

Feeding the birds in the park
A young girl sits next to him
And they pass the time making small talk
She's a little overweight
And her nose isn't straight

The still night cracks, with a lethal bolt
Striking an ancient oak, with a single jolt
Splitting it down, clean to its core
Taking down a giant, till it ain't no more

No one to remember it, so no one will
Time moves on, for all the rest

The Power of Peace
The world would be such a wonderful place
If we weren't constantly fighting over religion and race
Instead of building bombs, we built bridges instead
Instead of people dying, we feed them wine and bread
If we used our resources to stop poverty and disease
Leaders looking for power would find the power of peace
Look at the destruction war has caused over the years
Look at our people cowering in fear
What have we accomplished, what have we lost
What have we become, look at the cost
What we need is for all wars to cease ...
