The imagination,
both a blessing and a curse,
can be manipulated
to tell a story
that doesn't exist
It is hard to hold the tongue,
to immediately jump on the defense
but if asked to do so
I can only respect that with silence
As a small boy,
the neighbours were convinced
I had snuck into their pool
while away on vacation,
and the funny thing is,
I wasn't even in town
when my reported trespass occurred
From there,
there has been a lifetime of inventions
and accusations,

Things Unknown
As a proponent of peace and harmony,
I always find it unsettling
to discover that behind the scenes
there are things unknown
- conflict and cruelty,
disparaging remarks
This place has always been a refuge
to freely express
without the scrutiny of judgement
and it bothers me
that people will provoke others
and try and pick away
at the creative gifts,
we only crave to share
with others
Much of what I say,
is unspoken in the real world,
and I save it
for the explorers
and the dreamers, ...

to veer you off course
And you will be pissed off
and it might compel you
to engage that negative loop
and will yourself into another tough year
The timing can be justified,
only four days into the new one
and already you've chipped a tooth
and awoke in a shiver
discovering the furnace
never kicked on
And the more you think about it
