Tomorrow
The learning tree gives way
too unproven
its branches shriveled
with scornful gazes
Bending, penitent to the chain
pelted with black ash
kneels before the newborn
screams and scattered tongues trembling
infernal in the wake of aftermath.
Forced to the ground
drowned by throttled cries,
wonders where the unseen
swarms of shook birds
will thrive.

Sonnet of Awakening
The sea consumes like bellows pulling air
Through cavernous lungs of colossal fire,
Quarter the flesh of a sensual pear
Renew the heavenly lime of desire.
Foreseen, foretold, godly waters rush in
Surrounding the myth in a plume of surf,
Purging the vessel of cardinal sin
Returned again to the salt of the earth.
Alone on the vast, continental shelf
Rising, reaching, spies on his mountain
A great swan giving the wings of himself
To one blind fish in a merciful fountain.
In a flash, the awesome shape and sound
Of living faith and love—once...

Hungry for Legs
a whiplash impression
just a plume of light
I’m attuned to
after a lifetime
of watching their thighs swing
like a pendulum’s
smooth curve
a warm skin-dive
down to her heels
satin straps
and pink toes
ripen like sweet peas
impressing the sole
—angel chiffon
for my cock if I’m lucky
heels arched high
lift the calf dreamily
sultry image

a fulfilled sensation

Tremor, Release
That halfway ground
between sleep and love opens
hovers as a scythe
sailing through roses
pulled ripe from the stalk that swells
and dreads its own veracity.
That sleet
slipping off a seagull’s wing plunges
into the divine of a lover’s flesh
awakened, hovering
seeming to scale the snow-capped peak
merely by knowledge of gravity
or the striation of starlight
softly firing porcelain glass
which the peak opens, screaming.
That spread of bountiful rose-buds
sprouting in the Holland sunrise
awakens, sets itself...

Death Penalty
This carcass crashes
like ice on stars
in drama-spasms spun
pattern of sin disclosed
in a spiral cone of DNA
—the coil of a serpent
round a naked wolf
its tongue-forked supple
mouth fangs flash fast
black exorcist mass
inside-out voltage
jolts
blinding shards of glass.

UPBEAT INSPIRATIONAL POEM

Humility Dwells
Regenerative seed
in a sunflower burst
rests in the womb
of another seed
smaller
whose innocence persuades
its blossom to close
round untouched flesh
beginning fruition
as a birth of honey
from live bee bustle.
And petals falling
blown onto some pond just still
float flotsam, green glint
to the bottom of pond-beds
in plush summer water
knowing their own glamour
invited to meadow-nestle
with solemn crusted oysters
working their royal luster.

reluctant at first
she grew ripe
with my tongue
on her ever ready

and desperation

begged to be laid
on all fours
true primal maiden

between half-moon melons,

sought a much deeper void

leaned my prize

Spanish stems
long in the sun
dazzle
with richness
an elixir,
the swish
of thighs
as they glitter
and swirl
in a window
reflection
