POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I enjoy writing poetry about social injustice, political struggles and a wider range of issues that don't seem to be represented in the mainstream society.Would welcome tips on songwriting in particular!
Remortage your life with Interest
Absorbed insecurity of aspirational advert,
Invades your twee semi-detached show home,
Cellulite-free humblegoddess of perfection,
Beckons your husbands' roving eye,
Babysits your mini-consumers brainwash,
As the unique spirit slowly melting away,
Being vacuumed out viahypnotic cathode ray,
Animal urges whimper and retreat in the cold,
As earthly desires repackaged, fabricated and resold,
(Repeat ad breaks as required-take 5 times daily)
Side effects include self loathing and envy

Escape from the barbed wire brigade
They built a fence around us to close the place in,
Behind each primary colour door tales of sordid sin,
Nets that twitch unseen music blaring loud,
Lads drink cheap cider onstreet corner in a crowd,
Gossip reigns supreme as your business ain't your own,
Every last detail is repeated, filed and known,
The weeds are growing higher they're festering around,
Nothing else can flourish upon this concrete ground,
Refugees are taunted here for colour & for creed,
Racists smash their windows mistaking need for greed

Brylcreem and deja vu dreams
I was guilty of the disinterest of youth,
Of ignoring your faded swallow tattoos,
Now I am humbled at the unravelling clues,
The story of the boy who had noshoes,
Who walked miles to work in pig iron pit,
In claustrophobic spaces so dimly lit,
Of places you painted deja vu dreams,
though i've never visited them,
I smell faint brylcreem,
Great grandfather i'll be thinking of you on the day,
That i am sat staring out over Loch Carron bay

Silent sacrifices at an ungodly altar
Serenity moulded face in titanium clay,
Preservedin airbrushed pencil lead grey,
Gravity slowly repulsed rising,
reincarnate echo of the romanticized past,
Fossilized partly with grey leather skin,
Unlocking harsh misconceptions long held- at last,
Submersed for two thousand years,
Fingerprints intact a time capsule,
Of human superstition and fears of disease,
Last meal to be scrutinised,
By time travelling autopsy freaks,
The fertile peat has kept features upon your face,
Suspended historical animation,
Portal to another time...

Middle of the Road 2001
I laid my head beside her,
And I was too young to understand,
The beauty that grew inside her,
Made by Mother Nature's hand,
I heard you before this world,
Feltyour movement so forbidden,
Before anyone knew a girl,
Was the miracle tiny and hidden,
One day my mother disappeared,
I was scared alone and torn,
Never realised whatI feared,
For it was because you were being born,
I went to the night an only child,
And woke up a sister next day,
All the stars inheaven smiled,
In a magical and wonderous way,
From then...

The Lost Boy of Sierra Leone
Eyes that have never seen good,
Walls of "The Slaughterhouse" drenched in blood,
As the former child soldier sleeps rough,
Taking Diazepam when flashbacks are tough,
He was only four when he saw their crime,
Daddy's intestines ripped out first time,
Horrors that are kept in mindstorturous hell
As the sleeping steps pervadea faint urine smell,
In a guilty trance they're sleeping tonight,
Trying to forget how rebels made them fight,
Theyhear distant screams seeburial places,
Remember the horror on their...
