Buying the Farm
The games people play on public media
psychologically inferior to a rutabaga
that's the way they play the script
with the audacity of a parsnip
until it is time to buy the farm
and life becomes their Scarecrow

with the audacity of a parsnip
until it is time to buy the farm
and life becomes their Scarecrow

tea & timbre
tea & timbre
aglitter in the galactic night
is a myriad faceted diamond
her heart
under summer stars
carmen & her gypsy lover
flamenco
summer sky
over Andalusia
second soul flamenco
the arabesque
in our lover’s nocturne
her timbre
rhapsody in indigo
played on her midnight piano
psalm of love

The Brunt
Funny, how I am always to blame
for an unexpected disturbance
- a ripple in the routine
Whatever it might be
you come at me
and every single time
it sinks me
I've reasoned that whatever I do
or have done,
you will find a way
to punish me
You haven't been in my life
in many years,
but you still expect something from me
you are the chaos that robs the calm
If we didn't have a child,
I'd be long gone
but here I am
trapped in this limbo
having to endure
an attack almost...

Foxes & Wolves
I wondered back then
A long time ago
At fourteen in middle school
A year before the quinceanera I never had
Where I’d be later in life
Everyone my age left middle school
and their teens early
My girlz grew up way too fast
String bikinis
Hickeys on tummies
Laughing in detention
Fights in the restroom
at school or the movie theater
Wasn’t my thing though, never was
I wasn’t scared of fighting
but my mother was a different story
And my friends knew it
They didn’t have to answer to her ...

Poetry SNOBS ...
Ink must flow in lines,
metered, measured, high-minded
else it is not art.
They sneer at free verse,
counting feet like prison bars,
locking out the wild.
Rhyme too clean? Too trite.
Rhyme too loose? Unrefined slop.
Gold melts in their hands.
Ancient names they quote,
wielding rules like brittle swords
paper cuts still sting.
Silence when they read,
hushed as if the gods had penned
what they claim to own.
Yet wind speaks in gusts,
rivers carve new paths through stone ...

else it is not art.

it’s a
condition
to answer
‘who’s there’
instead of
‘no’

Dumb Things Narcissists Say # 2
Come to daddy
said the middle aged man
to his senior-citizen pet
the pet looks up
then flopped back down.
The man repeats himself
then says, you know daddy
has a bad leg, like wtf?

Mermaids on Land
It happens once a year
When the weather turns warm
Both men and women gather
Sometimes they swarm!
You can find them on both sides of the hill
Yelling encouragements and cheering
After their alcohol sets in,
You hear lewd comments and jeering
The women who compete
Are determined and stopless
Their boobs bouncing all over
Because they run topless!
It's a sight to be seen
There's women of all sizes
Some people are shocked
There's always lots of surprises!
The winner from each age group ...

all war all of the time
what's the difference
between politics and war?
with politics nobody

The fragile life of a house plant
Sun streaming through the east facing windows
collection of funeral plants
a magical garden depending on me
no time to fret the day is upon us
feed them water them or set them free

Beware your saviours.
But why bother learning now?
Indulge yourselves some dignity, best give up and lie down.
It's what you wanted.
Don't dare ask why or how.
Built empires off your backs you simply furnished them a crown.
One fix the other.
And all you get is broke.
Short-changing you maintains their float so in their debt you drown.

Mouse in my attic
I have a mouse living in my attic
She crawled all night making static
Got someone who is a mice terminatic
He said “you have two lovers living in your attic”
Now that is definitely very problematic
Although he didn’t sound very dramatic
I also don’t want to be melodramatic
But they shouldn’t be living in my attic
“They should die” and I wasn’t very diplomatic
I’m also a guy who is not very romantic
No one should be living in my attic
Not love, nor anyone who is the least sympathetic
