I haven't started critiquing on here, but in a situation where I was I might look back over their other poetry. That way I could see what standards they hold themselves to before sending them a PM about grammatical/spelling errors. So far as I go, I don't mind grammatical errors as long as they're intentional. I'll break rules and be ok with it if that was what I set out to do.

I prefer my writings to be grammatically accurate. I prefer to use punctuation to the best of my knowledge, and I'm always looking to improve. However, as for other people's work, it's art. And, as previously mentioned in this thread, art is an expression of self, so each person should write in a way that suits their own preferences.

"Number one rule of poetry; there are no rules in poetry?"

Dig?
