Johnny and I are conducting this poll for feedback as to which poets you would like to learn about and write tributes for in our ongoing Classic Corner competition series. We hold two competitions per month and would prefer they are dedicated to a male and female poet. The above list reflects last month's poll answers.
You may skip voting and instead recommend in a post one-three poets not listed in the poll.
Each competition, given enough entries, will encourage the Webmiss to create a theme for a poet.
Here is a list of poets we have already held challenges about and earned themes for, so keep in mind there is no point in recommending them:

#JelaluddinRumi

#EmilyDickinson

#DrSeuss
https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/forum/competitions/read/10520/
#MaryOliver

And here is a list of themes that already exist, thus no need to recommend these particular poets.
#CharlesBukowski
#EdgarAllanPoe
#ErnestHemmingway
#HenryDavidThoreau
#OscarWilde
#SylviaPlath
#WilliamShakespeare
#Mary Oliver
#MayaAngelou ( comp in progress )

#PabloNeruda ( comp in progress )

Thank you for your input.

E. E. Cummings
(they have to be dead poets, right?)
He's one of my favorite's too.
No; list as many as you want to write about. We just hope it's not a catalogue. I'm unsure how many poll options we have, and we want to get everyone's suggestion listed.
Perhaps list three. No; they need not be dead.

OK (and Oooooo) then I have 3 more:
Kahlil Gibran
Amy Lowell
&
Agnes Török ( I actually purchased a CD of hers - first time ever I did that just to listen to poetry while i drove in my car)

Excellent Choices! They'll be on next month's list. We hope you participate in this month's comps!
The Prophet by Gibran is my absolute favorite!

I will make an attempt -- I am not very good at Tributes, though.
The type of tribute we are looking for doesn't have to be "to" the poet being featured. It simply needs to reflect their essence, i.e. - their style of writing, etc. To garner that one must study them ( if they haven't previously ), this is exactly what we want. This exposes DUP poets to word masters of both the past and present.
Just pick a poem of theirs, write a poem of your own based on the inspiration of it.

I'm uncertain why you would feel insecure. If you do, there's no shame in messaging to ask. Peace of mind is very important.
All you need do is read our previous ( and even present ) comps to see the winners and read their poems ( and the classic ( or modern ) poems that inspired theirs ).
If someone told you to write a poem based on your favorite childhood toy, that would seem rather easy. We're in essence doing the same thing - except to one of a classic poet's poems instead of a toy. If you have any questions regarding one of the comps - do not hesitate to message. That's what we're here for.

What a great job, Sage, you & JB have been doing, organizing things like this (and the art & non-entries, etc) as each Classic Corner comp plays through!
As for voting, there are two on the list I am equally keen to compose an entry from their work. But I dared not waffle too long, so I took the plunge and voted for one. Now that I have, I feel fine and hope for the best.
*And to Tallen - my friend, don’t worry. The ethics observed in these particular comps (by hosts & participants alike) are exceptional. There’s a lot of support.

Jade I'm somewhat confused. Did you say you voted? Because we only see two votes, and those were cast by Johnny and me. It seems someone else told us they voted last month but didn't think it showed up. We thought nothing of it because glitches and all.
If you voted I need to let the Webmiss know. And Lorca was your nomination from last month. So I would think you would've voted for him.

Oooh, major blush! I did vote for Lorca, but upon rechecking, I completely missed the “Submit” option, yikes!🤦🏻♀️
But it’s all in order. The vote shows, it’s reflected in the percentages now,
Thank you, Sage.

To answer a question:
The two poets to be featured in March will be the male and female poet who received the highest vote amongst their gender. Not necessarily the two poets who receive the most votes overall, especially if the two are either male or female. Our goal is to feature one male and one female per month, as outlined in the guidelines.
Thank you.
