winter~esq

fall
detached itself
from it`s
bough, meaning
to sway boundlessly
in the wind;

but
beneath its tree
is where fall
unintentionally
found me
naked and uninhibited,
embracing
a lover`s
passionate kiss
somewhere
on a winter~esq beach;
as his lips
departed
from mine
fall landed
upon my erect
nipple
it`s leaflet tips
shivered
then
shuddered
then
shriveled
only leaving behind
the remnant of a single seed
now in search
of spring

And the winner is----London Poets!  Congrats--your entry struck me the most, as it is so true--the mindset is that the beach is only for the summer, and once the season is over, it's like the life drained out of it.  The last line summed up the essence of how I, myself, feel at the beach, off-season--the beauty is there, it might not look like you assume it should, but once you strip away all the things we associate with the beach, tourists, crowded parking lots, seaside stores and arcades--it's a timeless place that still offers much, even desolate.

Aemelia and Mel--great job; you captured the essence of the tranquility of a beach deserted.

Everyone else--all great entries, I wish I could give trophies to all, but a kudos goes out, anyway.  Thanks for writing, everyone!

Thank you MadameLavender for affording me this win. It was a total surprise after 3 years of trying & a few nearly's. It may sound cliché but it's not, as this is my maiden win. On writing this one, I was going back to my childhood, as you say, and back then off season was not so much fun as everything was shut. As I got older I liked the difference, the bleakness of it all. The waves carried on crashing against the shore. The world didn't stop because summer was over. Well done to ILD (AEMelia564) and mel44 too, who are sharing this podium with me. Thank you Gahddess_Worship & Ahavati for your well wishes. The beach means something different & personal to everyone that sees it.
