NOTATION: This comp will be extended two additional weeks after the initial two have expired. Unfortunately, the only way to extend a comp is when the initial deadline expires.
This competition is to celebrate the Light surrounding the Spiritual dimensions that remind us there is so much more to life, and how much we're loved beyond this place. The winning poem, and any runners up will be posted on our facebook site.

- You agree by entering to let us post your image on our facebook account. You will be credited in the caption, you can also include your name or username on the image, if you like.

Spirit Shaman
Thunderous blinding light makes me cry out
Hurting me as it opens to heal all things
Bending my head back as I shake & wail
He's bowing forward, doubled over me
The pain, oh the gods, my shaman take me
How can I survive, help me pass over
How I scream, I can't breathe, what's happening
The medicine is failing, let me die!
But I hear the rattle, the drum, he chants
With voice that cracks & soothes as it sings low
Then piercing call of speckled hawk soaring
Straight into 3 suns, their glare sears my brain
Where it comes from the spirit earth shaman
Pulls down from the sky of four elements
Wakes that keep him from entering heaven
Through his eyes it rains silver-blue & gold
His hands pull from me black spots of disease,
White-hot threads passing through & turning bile
Into pure energy, going inwards
The blessing of his craft his selflessness
The gift he himself cannot partake of
His kind eyes from which his own tears now fall
The torment of day has now dipped to show
An atrium of galactic firebrands
That hover o'er my body with serpents
Who hydrate me from streams into my veins
The shaman squeezes my arm one more time
As the chirp of my life force awakens.

Angel Wings
Could I fly with angel wings
aided by this beauty seen?
From my slumber I will spring
when this loveliness is my dream.
My breath is held prisoner
by the guardian of heaven's gate.
I release a gasp when I can
as I struggle in splendor’s grasp.
My tongue is tied in knots
as it seeks to full express.
Mere words cannot describe
a beatific view of paradise.
I'm lifted to the tallest heights
by vision of this celestial sight.
Moved beyond my sunken depths,
I am now free to sally forth.
Grant this mortal lover's boon,
undeserving of your grace,
that we may dance as partners do
in celebration of beatitude.
This taste is sweetest fruit,
sate an appetite long famished.
Penchants blessed by the flesh,
savored when not repressed.
The sight, the touch, so much more,
could I be blessed at this time?
Paradise gained in your these arms,
seraph please shine your light.
Thus I fly with angel wings,
beauty is as beauty gained,
not mine to own, just to share,
the embrace of dancer's love.

a man of menthol connoisseur
body attuned, he sat there
a cigarette dangled, amid fingers symmetrically aligned
and the ash of celestial ember,
they debate on where to fall, drift, scatter,
surrender
`neath his earthly universe
his bare feet, the tickle of a working man`s skin
slaved to the grind of white collar un`crime`d
have been released to tickle hers …
mother earth
a man of menthol connoisseur
he journeys through clouds
of satisfactorily balance; chemicals
they enhance flavor to the spice of life
that invisibly shape him,
morning death, evening afterlife
in the hour that awaits his arrival
`neath the contributions of humanity
he ponders of the simplest pleasures
that cannot measure the depth of his soul,
like an ocean, infinite and tranquil
void of fear or failure to grasp … it carries in gravity
but it`s in the depth of his irises multihued
where brilliance is found,
embodying a constellation
created by the magnificence of a rumor of stars yet to be structured ~
and when he exhales … the plumes
they are like roses
lingering in a garden of the divine

LIGHT YEARS
Light exploding and coalescing
Ever changing even this night
Look up and be struck
Not by shooting stars
But by the existence of so many stars
Than our Earth has clocked seconds
3.5 billion earth years
Times 365 days
Times 60 minutes
Multiplied by 24 hours
Times 60 seconds
Plus years that leap
And each star we find we name
With names older than our forefathers
With names our ancestors gave them
Each a guide and each a fate foretold
Each as perfectly placed as you
Let the light of one of them travel to you
And fill you
Now do the same
With a
second
.
.
.
second filled with light
And it said
Know 3 things
You are not a mind
And you are not a body
So pay no mind to no body else

Entanglement of fingers
Entwined in a contentment so sickenly pleasurable your eyes had gone glassy
And you're mind blurred like a badly smeared erase mark
yet I wonder if that can be considered rape
As I scare myself with thoughts of distance;
Time has passed
And eclipses have overlapped into orange
Without fruitful scent
And I do not think of you;
But you're touch haunts me in ways
I wish the darkness could not reach
I wish I would not fit in the screen-
But here I am looking up waiting for something better
Is there something better?
I leap through more rings than saturn
More rings than your whorish aunt has recieved on her bony finger
Yet I still only rarely see the sun rise;
And I really want to see the sun rise....
I blow out a match and the stars dissapear-
My name means light and illumination
So why do I feel so scared of the dark?
Entwined in a contentment so sickenly pleasurable your eyes had gone glassy
And you're mind blurred like a badly smeared erase mark
yet I wonder if that can be considered rape

Angels touched Me
I in acceptance looked away
thinking it was time to go
the pain made me so aware
life was fleeting, now for the heavenly
pain, white lightning suffusing
my body, wracked in agony
heat from deep within rising
brimming over my eyes
gentle cool hands on my brow
a pair of deep set eyes, liquid brown
almost hazel…gazing deep
into my eyes , they shone quiet love
look at me, do not close your eyes
I will be by you, do not fear
he whispered...soothing melodious
I sank into peaceful nothingness
hours of eternity swathed
in white, pain a grim promise
I returned in bleary awareness
safety net knitted wounds
I never saw him again
the theatre team never saw him
none knew him
but I knew, an angel brought me through
fast forward and I saw his eyes
brown liquid on a white face
gazing deep into my soul
touching chords in love songs
he is gone now, loving another
but the two pairs of eyes
will haunt me forever
in different bitter sweet way.

Despair in the hollows of me, draws strength from my limbs, which drag in the repetitious doldrums of duties and the daily summation of necessities dull my senses to a gray muddle. Sorrow inks my heart a multitude of somber hues.
All is quiet upon the summit of the lonely mountain. Summer birds have long flown. Green blanketed boughs have journeyed with them, in memory carried to southern climes. Bare branches twist a tortured outline upon still air. Treebeard's nostrils whistle in a nascent slumber that has seized him, mid stride.
And then
As I abide
The spirit is upon me
Pressure stirs beneath the earth. Gathers force in the quietude. Vibration moves the subtly attuned. A single eye flutters open. A doe's head rises, a hoof pauses in motion, an ear turns. Cocooned butterflies stir. Their dreams begin to resonate in time.
A rumble shakes snow from slopes, which slur into motion as it descends. Loose stones dislodge from their nests. Ground explodes skyward. Pressurized gases scream from the crater. Liquid fire rises into the sky. And there is light.
Ashen night descends. Charged particles and ice crystals collide. Bolts of volcanic lightning spark to life, draw jagged outlines across every eye. And amidst the all-encompassing darkness, there is fire, there are stars, flames of electricity, and my true self emerges.
And in this moment I am seized by a panacea of erupting light that foments from the energetic nexus of all that I am, where astrophysics coils into an atlas of shining mail and all that I have dreamed and loved and lost forms hardened scales that burst and crest the surface of this indivisible being: man child, constellation, soul mind, universe of physics, heart of vibrant hues and in this moment I am one.
Tasting the air, slows in my mouth, caresses the fine hairs of my lungs.
Sounds slow, converge and coalesce. There is music in their gathered numbers, sonorous in their staccato lines of demarcation, which crowd above, around and below.
Lights liquefy and slow. Orbs blot and burst into spikes. Arms reach, spear tips touch to angular forms. Green leaves drink of the plasma, birthing sugars, oxygen and storms.
Eyes fix, breaths slow to a close, fingers gently lower lids. Flowers are cast down into the breach, voices in song rise, and there is death, and there is light.
Coals simmer in the hearth, skins warm, wine pours, breaths fall and rise, forms entwine, and there is heat, and there is heart, and the art of love, and there is light.
Foals slip from the breach of mothers, slick with birth, abounding with the newness of all experience, eager to rise, and there is life, and there is light.
Mists crawl across the hilly crests of oceans which brighten under sunrise, sparkle in the noontide, glow under moonrise, and there is perpetual motion, and therein lies my devotion to this continuous revolution, and there is light.
And there is light.
