Pax Mentis

Prestige a disposable asset
Status not a factor for survival
With success measured in avaricious terms
Something to be said for just getting by
Maintaining friendships and whatever love
All the rest, all that glitters
Just scatters, shatters and dissolves
Assurances blown away with the blink of an eye
Just could use some presence of mind
Currently lost, but hopefully found.

¤ It's Never Truly Earned, the Right Way ¤

To be better, to be worse
To stand above and feel no thirst
Dig down beneath
Inside the bodies' lost heat

Cleanse your poverty in their blood
Stand back and feel no love
Honored with knighthood
You've earned nothing that you should

But you'll never be torn down
Because the masses just drown
In all your bank appointed honor
And peer praised valor

Wring your hands of the filth and gore
That once came with being poor
Now you're a cut above the rest
Claimed to be one of the very best

But you've sold yourself for cheap
And didn't tell the police a peep
You're nothing but a disease
Cloaked with a currency called prestige

prestigious bones laced with lead and fear
shaking beneath cowardly tears
cries of justice call out of old
from behind a curtain of gold
you rattle and creak
worn away, youve become weak
once referred to as 'my liege'
youve nothing left, only false prestige.

The Honor And The Glory

I walk in the room, the prestige is loud
but I am silent
I am impervious to evil
but never too proud to fight for what's right
for honor
for glory
for the fine details that garnish the character
of my story
in my presence their souls bow to me
but their bodies stand erect, too proud to bow before me
they refuse to show respect
though fear and trepidation beat tyranny into their hearts
I am not a mystery to those that obey
but I am the most ferocious force of human decay
Prestige is not enough for me,
I want the GLORY.
