Turnpike of Life

Whatever road you choose to take in life
Your choice is really quite arbitrary
Your journeys destination is precise
All roads lead to the cemetery

All roads lead to or from some where
They are traveled by some one at some time
We are all going to or coming from our journey
You take the low road, I will take the high (road)

A road is a road
As a choice is a choice
Your path is devided by your voice
All roads lead to were you guide them
Except for when you do nothing at all
That's a waste of life for us all

All roads lead to Grandma's
rough and ruddy red clay
or smooth polished fast asphalt.
We'll pass through forest made of trees
and cities made of gray concrete.
But no matter, we'll get there...

All roads lead to Grandma's
my mom always said, take a nap, we'll get there
don't you worry your pretty little head
But I'd wake up and grab the map and gasp
we're so far off course!

All roads lead to Grandma's
It doesn't matter if we're not going the right direction
We will eventually find our way in the darkness
We will eventually find that old farmhouse, that yellow porchlight
Shining like a beacon, Grandma's lighthouse
don't worry, all roads lead to Grandma's.

.:ALL ROADS:.

for sure
we’ve
heard it from
bulls & heifers
odd kings & even lepers

that all roads, they
lead to a final drop...that final stop
the relinquishing
of that never-ending clock

as if our time;
it had been our subjective choice
they’ll be
stiff upper lips
begetting tear ducts moist

hopeful for an end
we could somehow control
but the flesh will be fleeting
whereas aloft goes
the soul

so our
countdown
gets measured to
the very last click
what was once new birth
becomes death real quick

yes, all roads
they lead to a final “I am here”
where some earn fresh laughter
others...their worst fear

All roads lead us to where we are meant to be
the wrong turns and the missed directions are part of destiny
when you've run out of gas and you feel lost
remember that somewhere out there somebody is walking to your aid
all roads lead us home
wherever home may be, for home is only where the heart lies

All Roads Lead

A leash in hand
Dragged over the land
Led by dismay
No one else stays

Kindness for the empty beach
An ocean of deceit
Made of sand
An ocean of land

The path of pebbles
Discarded shovels
Unmarked graves give way
Only to dismay

Book of secrets
No one could keep it
Rumors spread over the land
There is no one's hand

The sun behind
The mountain tide
Fearing the dismay
You shout anyway

That all things lead
To the clearing of trees
Do you understand
This unforgotten land?

All roads lead to valleys and mountains.
And when you think you've reached the top,
You're mocked.
And presented with more miles to cover.
And when you keep driving,
You discover.
That the road leads to a dead end.
Then you pretend.
As if the GPS tricked you.
Issue was, you weren't going anywhere in the first place.

All roads lead to cross-roads.
All cross-roads lead to more cross-roads.
Like new regions unfamiliar.
Your car breaks down.
You're lost.
All roads lead to an adversity.
All roads lead to accidents and wrong turns.
Ambulances and Emergencies.
All roads lead to risks.
All roads lead to exposure.
Sickness.
All roads lead to the alignment of traffic lights.
Assigned for the mindless to ignore.

All roads lead to car seat belts getting caught and my auntie getting pinned in while another car slams into the passenger door of hers.

Scrap metals melting through heated blood pulsating out open ribs, peeking out torn flesh, ripping through organs already punctured.

..And a mocking concrete street.. and a destination unreached.
All roads lead.

Knowing

The sign read
all roads lead somewhere
so we picked southwest
towards the ocean

we'd only taken seven steps
when an old man shook a stick at us
and crackled
"your problem is, you already know
where you're going"

It all Ends the Same

All Roads lead to Rome
Nothing doing, that’s not done
Born too late or born too soon
We learn life by and by
Be it with sticks or stones

All Roads lead to Rome
Whether you learn
Whether you’re taught
Pay stipends for doing
Or do together with a crowd

Roads...long meanderings ones
Short and straight
Lived true and wise
Or dangerously adventurous
Destinations stay the same.

Final Destination

Fragile pieces of the mortal soul
Wandering through this empty void called life
Experiencing brief highs of happiness
Crashing down like suicide off a skyscraper
Splattered intestines along with inspirations and dreams
Whether to a scorching hell
Or a paradise for hypocrites
All roads lead to a dead end
